Hello,
I just saw that there was a Néo Keops Mediaplayer 400 Go. It's a hard drive that can be connected to a television, right? Did I understand correctly? So, no more burning... I can watch on television what I have on this hard drive?
Thank you for your prompt response...

NEO KHEOPS V551
Firmware: MT_35_P6_12_01 (2007/07/17)
- Support:
* WEB: http://www.neo-europe.com/
* Hotline Tel: 08 92 70 22 92 (0.34 € / min.)
* Hotline Email: support@neo-europe.com
* Hotline address:
NCA TECHNOLOGY
50-54 RUE EUGENE DUPUIS
94000 CRETEIL
Various issues:
- Case, remote control, and power adapter of very poor quality (Case buttons get stuck, shabby remote, etc...)
---> Repair of the case buttons with glue + silicone + cardboard support...
---> Remote control irreparable due to positioning issue of the 2 batteries... Possibility to purchase a new remote through technical support (Price: 7.90€)
---> Wobbly power adapter plug, do not fully insert the plug into the case... or resolder this plug inside the case... :)
- Formatting in NTFS or FAT32 does not solve any file display issues in TV mode
---> You must copy the files (in PC mode) and not move them (also works on itself, meaning I copy the file to be viewed into another directory one by one)
---> Test moving all files directly to the root of the hard drive (ROOT), without ANY directory
- Character recognition issue (punctuation) (blocks access to TV mode or does not display files present on the hard drive in TV mode)
--> Remove punctuation (é, à,...) and shorten overly long file names
- Recognition issue with certain video files (blocks access to TV mode or does not display files present on the hard drive in TV mode)
---> Identify and remove the offending file
- No firmware update found (Current version: MT_35_P6_12_01 (2007/07/17))
--> Call to technical support today: NO FIRMWARE UPDATE
- Recognition problem with a hard drive
--> Change the jumper to MASTER or CABLE SELECT (CS) mode
--> Do not set to SLAVE
- To properly maintain this piece of junk, here are the steps to follow:
USAGE IN TV MODE
Device powered off...
1. Absolutely disconnect the USB cable !!!
2. Connect the AUDIO and VIDEO cables to the TV
3. Turn on the case
USAGE IN USB HARD DRIVE MODE
Device powered off...
1. Connect the USB cable to the PC
2. The hard drive then automatically powers on...
3. Copy your movies (do not move, avoid long names and special characters)
4. Properly disconnect the hard drive from the PC (Remove the device via Windows...)
5. Remove the USB cable
6. The hard drive then automatically powers off...
Here is a brief summary of this product, which has the merit of being a beautiful piece of junk that needs to be mastered!
Moreover...
- The firmware is the microcode of the multimedia case (So NOTHING to do with the hard drive itself)
cf. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware
- There is no driver for the multimedia case... The driver is natively managed by WinXP-VISTA-7, the case is then recognized as a standard USB hard drive
- No need to create partitions... No need to format to FAT32 or convert to FAT32
- If you are using NTFS, the only difference that interests us would be that there are "security" settings: meaning that you may sometimes need to modify the "security permissions" on the hard drive of the multimedia case.
---> MY COMPUTER --> Right-click on your multimedia hard drive --> PROPERTIES --> SECURITY tab -->> add -> type: everyone then OK -> Check: all boxes on "allow" then OK

Hello, after opening the D.D.M., the slots are the little black support (there's only one)
that is located between the power supply (colored wire) and the I.D.E. port (which transmits the info through the large flat gray cable).
Once removed with tweezers, you look at the hard drive, you have a diagram. Otherwise, you lay it flat on a table and place the slot completely to the left (vertically), and there you go, it's in master.
And everything should work perfectly.

I think so, but it seems particularly cheap to me. I saw it on Cdiscount but I'm skeptical. Comet Labs offers the same type of product for €300, if the Neo hard drive is indeed a multimedia drive.
Hello,
Indeed, I just bought one on Cdiscount for €138.00, but there's a small problem: the keys are a bit loose and the power button stays pressed down.
But as you said, they replied that this product is not their responsibility. I don't know where to turn as the days go by and it's already been 5 days since I got it. Do you have the email address for Cdiscount so I can send them this response?

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem as you with my Neo Keops bought on Cdiscount, the power button is stuck, the other buttons are also loose and I can't turn it on: it feels like a real scam, I feel like I have a fake model.
I'm afraid that to contact Cdiscount we will have to call the premium rate number:
Phone: 0 899 700 480 €1.35 for the call then €0.34 per minute From Monday to Friday from 9am to 9pm
On Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9am to 6pm

Keep me updated on what happens next, I'm also starting the procedures on Monday.

Olivier

Hello, I also took advantage of the Cdiscount promotion. The issue is that it shuts down randomly when plugged into the PC to receive data, causing my PC to crash completely. Additionally, after a thorough reading of the "Quick Install Guide," it is recommended to connect the 3.5 hard drive as master (page 8), while through the ventilation edges, we can see the IDE port, the power connector, and the slots reserved for this purpose. The drive is connected in auto mode!!
What should I do? Return it for service or simply open it (there's no apparent warranty sticker) and resolve the issue myself, I think.
I'll think about it and keep you updated. Let's wait for comments from other buyers; apparently, this promotion has attracted a lot of attention.

Hello,
I just received mine and... I can't get it to work! It's recognized by my PC which installs it without any problem, it's even present in the device manager, but if I try to save something on it, nothing, it's not visible! The blue LED that indicates it's reading from the disk is still flashing, it won't turn off either. So I tried plugging it into my TV and there I get the home screen with "please wait..." displayed, then the image starts jumping and nothing happens, the only button that gives a result is for putting it to sleep or turning it on!
I think I won't hesitate to call on the warranty that I had the foresight to take, especially since it's not new, it's even scratched on the part with the screws and you can clearly see that it has been handled and even placed without support!
I hesitated though, but I told myself that there must be some happy people owning it... I'll keep you posted but if anyone has a suggestion for a manipulation to try to see it and attempt to write to it, I'm all ears!
Best wishes to all.

Hello,
Well, it's the same for me! My PC (with WinXP) is detecting it, but it says I need to install the HDD... This looks very bad! I thought it was just a matter of plugging it in. Plus, it smells like cheap stuff.

Furthermore, the materials feel cheap. There isn't a single sketch in the manual and the explanations are fanciful or inappropriate, like unscrewing the legs of the device when there are no legs...

I just bought a KEOPS NEO 160 GB, it is recognized by my PC but it doesn't show up. I think there's some confusion about this.
I'm wondering if the hard drive installed by KEOPS is formatted or if it's just not working.
I wouldn't recommend it right now until a solution is found. Because I went to the seller who exchanged it for me but the second one does the same thing.

Still regarding this Keops Neo
I have an additional warranty from Cdiscount and I was supposed to deal with the hotline at Neonumeric.com
Impossible to get a response!
At Cdiscount this morning:
Called customer service: 0899 700 480 who sends me to
the after-sales service: 0899 700 511 who sends me to
SAV Sérénité (sic!) 0892 700 276 who ...
advises me to write to
CDISCOUNT
Claims Department
BP 90200
93472 Neuilly sur Marne ...
I haven’t often been disappointed with CDiscount, but this time it's a piece of crap and I want a refund!
Good luck to all Neo Keops owners, etc.

As explained earlier, mine keeps crashing all the time. I also have (W. XP) and the same complete crash. So I turned to customer service. After multiple contacts with the different support services (08....) that kept passing the buck (long live ping pong!!!!!), even with Cdiscount's Serenity guarantee (immediate exchange of my product for a new one!!!!!! The product is no longer available), I was offered only one thing: to send my multimedia HDD for at least 3 weeks to customer service with no return date. I simply decided to open it (there's no warranty sticker on the screws) and I simply moved the small slot that was connected to "cable..." and placed it on "master," and now I'm completely at ease.
(For those who don't know anything about computers, there are many sites that perfectly explain how to move a slot and identify the master position.) No more PC crashes and I watch movies on the TV; it works perfectly!!!!!!!! I want to say that I only use the remote control, so there are no button problems with the multimedia HDD. Just to let you know, it's simply a 3.5-inch hard drive with an IDE connection. It is true that you need to know a minimum. But what to do to avoid seeing it disappear into customer service, with no return date!!!!!!!
One piece of advice for those who still have the chance to do so: GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

To show the seriousness of the matter, here is finally the response from neonumeric.com:
"Hello,
Your player is not from the NEONUMERIC brand. Please contact your dealer to know the manufacturer's contact details so that they can help you solve your problem.
Sincerely,"
I had clearly explained that it was CDISCOUNT that directed me to them and that it was a NEO KEOPS 400Go. This must be a copy-paste response and we are the ones being messed around! I received the barcode to return the device and that’s done. Now, I just need to get refunded!...

Hello,
I bought the Neo Keops 160 Go yesterday
No problem with PC recognition
I was able to transfer my files without a hitch
However, nothing on the TV, no recognition
For me, the connections are correct
Back of the HDD (yellow/red and white)
Back of the TV (provided SCART)
When powering up the HDD, the TV recognizes nothing
A little help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

Bought from Cdiscount for me: 100% TOP PRODUCT
No recognition issues on XP
Nor on the television.

Pleasant surprise: fast HDD (40 GB in less than 15 mins!)
Quick initialization at startup on TV screen
UNBEATABLE PRODUCT in terms of quality-price ratio

Kstemania the big joker, you notice that when you type Neo kheops into Google, the only thing you see is dozens of pages of dissatisfied people, just like me!!!!
I formatted it by connecting it via SATA to my PC... it erased all the data from my first hard drive...
Returning it to the sender, and I’m definitely not going to promote Neo, who only offers DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS 98 on its CD; if that’s not a joke!

I was happy with CDiscount too, until this purchase of the Khéops Media Player.
With their agreement, I returned it with a letter clearly stating that I wanted to be refunded.
Today, I received an email saying it is at the workshop!! Provocation? Mockery? CDiscount, I think it’s over for me. And yet, I say it again, I was a good customer, purchasing photo equipment, computers, costumes, etc.

Hello, I also bought a Kheops 500Gb at Leclerc. The first one broke down with a hard drive failure on the night of the purchase. The customer service replaced it with a new one the next day. When I got home, I realized that the power supply didn't work. Back to Leclerc's customer service, where, miracle of miracles, the power supply works correctly, and I look like a fool. A new attempt at home reveals that there is indeed a power issue. There, at customer service, the power supply refuses to cooperate, and the salesman acts surprised because it's supposedly a very reliable model, but I leave with a new Kheops. I spend a nightmare evening with repeated crashes of Vista. I go to the NEO website to look for a firmware for Vista, but the site doesn't work. In the end, I check out Commentçamarche and see that I'm not the only one having issues. I try the advice from pitit philou, and there, miracle of miracles, it works.
A big thank you to pitit philou. By the way, I noticed that the quality wasn't there; 2 screws out of 4 just spin in place, and the circuit board behind the buttons is held on with some thermal glue that doesn't hold.

Hello,
It worked for me at first.
Now it doesn't work anymore. It appears in my computer but when I go inside I don't see anything, even though it's filled to 1/3.
I also have the button on the front pressed in (since the beginning).
I'm going to try changing the slot.
In any case, it's a product not to be recommended given the number of people who have encountered problems.
