Hello everyone. Sorry for the very late response, but it's worth writing anyway because if someone else is in need, they can refer to it.
So, I also have a Presario R3000 whose Wi-Fi button no longer works. I could have indeed used the warranty as someone suggested before me, but otherwise, I propose:
    1) Right-click on the "My Computer" icon
    2) Click on Manage.
    3) Then go to the "Services and Applications" menu.
    4) Next, go to the services submenu in the right panel.
    5) Look for "Wireless Auto Configuration" in the list and double-click on it.
    6) Finally, click on Start.

And there you go, you will see your Wi-Fi indicator light up.
I hope this can help someone one day.
I'm currently struggling a bit because I've switched to Ubuntu and now I don't know how to activate my Wi-Fi.

      Hello mamat,

Thank you for your late post...
I'm also struggling with Ubuntu and my WiFi card on my Presario R3000. I installed the driver, but the button isn't responding, so if you find a solution, I'm interested!

      Thank you

Hello, I was hoping you could help me.
I launched the Vista reinstallation CD because I had an error, a damaged file; in short, I could no longer access Windows.
So I restarted the installation, everything is working fine, and when I want to see the list of available networks, I go to "Connect to a network" in the "Network and Sharing Center." There it says "Windows can't find any additional networks."
I want to specify that I tried your manipulation in "Manage," etc., but I can't find what you're talking about regarding wireless configuration. It's not in my list.
Last night everything was working perfectly, so now I have no idea what to do... please help me!

I have a Samsung R60 Plus, and I have an Atheros WiFi card; I can't remember the model, but I could check if that matters. But the major problem is that the WiFi card does not appear in "Network Connections."

      Thank you for your help.
