Hello,
It’s impossible for the disk to be damaged; it’s sealed, it can’t operate in the open air, it’s the electronic circuits that are the problem, or then, if it is an SSD.

Hello,
If the hard drive has been directly touched by water, I would advise you not to attempt multiple manipulations or to power it on any further. This could worsen the damage.
If the data is important, the best option would be to call on a professional laboratory specialized in data recovery from damaged hard drives and SSDs, especially in cases of water damage. These laboratories have specialized equipment to diagnose the drive and recover the data when standard software solutions are not enough.
You can also start with a diagnosis of the drive to determine whether the data can be recovered without risking further damage.

Hello,
recours to laboratories is only sensible if the data are sufficiently important, given the cost (depends on the nature of the failure).
However, the addresses are available upon simple request on any search engine by entering "hard drive data recovery" and the communication in response to a topic can be made without reservations (Ontrack, Recoveo, etc.)
