Number of Orange Flashes Problem (Most Common Cause) Typical Solution 2 times No paper in the tray. Add paper. 3 times Paper jam or lid is open. Remove jammed paper or close the lid. 4 times Empty ink cartridge (or unrecognized). Replace the cartridge. 5 times Cartridges not installed or wrong cartridge/print head. Properly install the cartridges or replace them. 14 or 15 times Unrecognized ink cartridge (dirty contact). Remove, clean the metallic contacts of the cartridge with a dry cloth, and reinsert. More than 16 times Major error (defective print head, often requiring a technician). Unplug the printer, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. If the error persists, contact Canon support. -
