Unable to create favorites in Contacts on iPhone 17

Hello

I recently got an iPhone 17 to replace my old iPhone 6 Plus!

The problem is that I can't add some of my contacts to

"my favorites": the option is grayed out on my phone.

How can I achieve this?

Best regards.

Hi,
on recent iPhones, favorites are now managed from the Phone app → Favorites tab → +. If the option is grayed out, check these points:

The contact must have at least one number saved.

If your contacts come from an account (Google, Outlook…), make sure they are properly synced in Settings → Contacts → Accounts.

You can also try restarting the iPhone or disabling/enabling iCloud Contacts in the settings, that sometimes fixes the bug.

Otherwise, you can add contacts in Messages or directly via the Phone app, that often works around the issue.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I can create all the contacts I want, but the favorite option is not active. Besides, I don't have the Favorites tab appearing at the bottom of the phone menu. Why?

If I select a contact and want to add it to favorites, the option is grayed out...

I have restarted the iPhone, but it didn't change anything.

My contacts came from the old iPhone. I'm going in circles, unable to find a solution.
