Hello,

When I connect to Outlook 2007 on Windows 11, I get the following message:

The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified

The target principal name is incorrect

What name is it referring to?

All the settings are correct (identical to my other PC running Windows 11) and I can't get rid of this error message.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Manu

    Hello,

To resolve this issue, check and update your email account settings in Outlook 2007, ensuring that the incoming and outgoing mail servers correspond to the correct domain names.

Example: imap.orange.fr and smtp.orange.fr for Orange.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

However, imap.orange.fr does not work because the account type is POP3, so I used pop.orange.fr.

What worries me is the error message: the main target name is incorrect.

Which name is it referring to?

To answer your second question... This error often occurs due to issues with Active Directory replication or incorrect SSL/TLS certificates, like in Outlook 2007 or during secure email sending.

Check the certificates, DNS settings, and replication configurations to resolve the issue. I found this at the following link... https://tutodidacte.com/Active-Directory-Reparer-la-replication-entre-2-controleurs/

    Hello,

Thank you for the link you shared with me, but not being very experienced in IT, the solution seems a bit complicated, and I don't want to take the risk.

On the other hand, during the error message, when I click "view certificate" and "details,"

I see under "field," key usage and basic constraints with a small yellow triangle that seems to indicate there is an error. Is that normal?

    Best regards,

    Manu

    Hello

As it is no longer being supported, it has not been updated to current security TLS standards (minimum TLS 1.2)

And there isn't much to do.

If you are fond of Outlook, it is available on the Microsoft Store for Windows.

Thank you all for your help.

As this is a second PC, I will continue with this version of Outlook 2007 by confirming the server each time I use it by clicking "yes."

Later on, I will consider upgrading to the newer version of Outlook.

    Best regards.

    Manu
