PC not compatible with Windows 11, buy processor?

Hello,

The verdict is in, my PC is not compatible with Windows 11.

My processor listed below is not supported:

Intel core i5 7400 CPU @ 3.00 GHz

My PC is from 2018, but I had done several repairs (new hard drive...) recently, so it bothers me.

I want to upgrade to Windows 11 for security reasons, and I would like the updates for Windows 11.

I don't know anything about computers; it's all Chinese to me.

Is there a way to keep my PC as it is but still have Windows 11 and its updates?

In terms of cost, I'm wondering if it might be better to buy a Lenovo central unit (refurbished) rather than have a processor installed by a technician.

Thank you for your knowledge,

    Hello

Is there a way to keep my PC as it is but have Windows 11 and its updates?

The method described in the link above by MPMP10 allows updates for Windows in a completely legal manner.

I still recommend backing up your important data on an external drive before you begin.

The link explains several methods; I recommend the second one, using the Rufus utility.

Hello, thank you all for your responses, in the meantime I learned that we no longer need to upgrade to Windows 11.

Windows 10: Microsoft is offering free updates for a year in Europe and the United States. But I don’t understand, we have totally different information here yet, this information is recent:

      Hello

The extension is subject to certain obligations, and it will only ever be for one year; the same problem will arise again regardless of what happens.

Indeed, as pointed out by @flo88 (whom I greet in passing...), the fact of saving beforehand is a very good suggestion.

You can also create a system image beforehand.

      Greetings to you too.

The system image can indeed allow you to restore the computer to its previous state in case of a problem.
