Hello,

For the past few days, I've noticed that when I rotate my smartphone (a Redmi Note 10) to view the photos taken with the camera, they rotate upside down and I don't understand what could be causing this or how to fix the problem.

If you know how to do it, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Indeed, with my various successive phones, including Redmi, this would happen to certain photos.

I found the solution with the "Gallery" app; I click on the pencil below to edit the photo and in "Crop" you will find a circular arrow that allows you to rotate your photo. Then you validate, save, and that's it.

As for the reason the photos are in the wrong position, I don't really know, because for the most part it's my fault, but like you, I'm sure that during saving, some others simply glitched.

Hello,

For photos that appear upside down and rotate in the wrong direction, this may also be due to the photo not being taken in the correct orientation.

You need to pay attention to the orientation of the icons and other buttons in the Camera app before taking the photo.

For example, if these are oriented in portrait mode while the photo is supposed to be taken in landscape, rotate the phone to align them properly.

The buttons should always be directed in the same orientation as the photo being taken.

If, for example, these are oriented in portrait mode while the photo is supposed to be taken in landscape, rotate the phone to put them back in the right direction.

In fact, in my case, the photo is in the correct format (landscape) but it appears "upside down."

Do the explanations also apply to this case?

Yes, that's right. I think your phone didn't detect the correct orientation when taking this photo. But you can put it back in the correct position by editing it from the gallery, as Domy31 explains.

I know, but I was mainly wondering if we could solve this orientation detection problem.

If the detection is not good, you sometimes have to insist by shaking the phone in the direction it should detect. Alternatively, you can return to portrait mode and rotate it back to landscape mode. Also, check if the screen rotation is enabled.
