SAGEMCOM RM50 Radio Server Connection Refused
Dan -
Hello,
Just like in the summer of 2022, for the past 3 days, my SAGEMCOM RM50 has been denied connection to the VTUNER server for web radios. Is it the same for many of you? Two years ago, everything was back to normal, so it’s probably a server outage...
Thank you for your responses.

Hello, since yesterday morning, January 18th, my RM50 is refusing to connect to the server. I'm joining you while waiting for a solution. Fortunately, I can still pick up the radio on FM. When that stops working, I'll try my father's LW and pull out my grandfather's crystal radio ????????

Hello,
Same here, since 01/16/2025. It’s indeed the same issue.
I sent an email to vtuner support...
Let’s hope it gets resolved quickly.

Hello,
It's reassuring to know that this has happened before and that it came back... Let's keep our fingers crossed that the server won't be abandoned...

I have had the same problem for several days. How can I know if the server is still operational? Does anyone have an idea?
I’m adding my comment quite late to this thread. I’ve also noticed that I can no longer access the server. God knows it was nice to choose your own music style...
I also have a funny little system that was connected to the same server... a complicated setup to connect to vtuner, humorously useless... a mini system for 500€ that turns into a CD player, it hurts.
At least the dm 50 picks up a bit of FM and the server... and can serve as a speaker. In short, a very respectable device given its age!

Hello, I also have the same error message today, Monday, January 20, 25. Apparently, this issue has happened before. So is it temporary?
-
Hello,
I experienced the same problem on Saturday morning (18th).
I didn't send an email to Sagem or Vtuner because the last time this happened (in August 2022), I received no response despite my follow-ups, before things got back to normal a few days later.
Let's hope it's just a temporary issue like before, but I personally fear a permanent interruption of Vtuner services for this device.
Fingers crossed, to be continued...

For my part, this RM50 serves as a "source" for an amplitude modulation transmitter of low power, on the Medium Wave band. This way, I can make my 1930s to 1950s American tube radios "come alive."
It is a very sturdy device, and it has been running 24/7 for about fifteen years. The transmitter has been too, by the way!

Hello,
According to the latest news, vtuner now offers its service for $7/year.
See: https://denon.vtuner.com/setupapp/denon/asp/AuthLogin/DetectDevice.asp?noreg=y&lngy=eng
It seems to work for Denon devices and other brands, but since Sagemcom has not supported its products, it seems dead despite my attempts to register.

Hello
Thank you for this information, I have exactly the same problem. Sagemcom replied to me on January 21 with the following: "Your request has received our full attention, but the Retail activity of Sagemcom Documents has been transferred since August 1, 2015, to X-GEM. As of that date, any commitment for After-Sales Service for Sagemcom Documents products has been taken over by X-GEM. Therefore, the recipient of your request should have been X-GEM, its agents, or its successors."
So I wrote to X-GEM, and it’s PHILIPS who just replied to me today, February 3: "We would like to inform you that our service is dedicated to supporting Philips decoders and projectors. Unfortunately, we do not manage the RM50 Internet Radio. According to the information provided by Sagemcom, the After-Sales Service (SAV) management of Sagemcom Documents products has been transferred to X-GEM since August 1, 2015. We therefore advise you to contact X-GEM or one of its agents directly for any assistance regarding your device."
So we’re going in circles! Goodbye RM50

I'm trying again at https://www.vtuner.com/
I just wrote to them because from a PC or smartphone, all the radios can be streamed online but there is no more mention of Sagemcom as a partner which probably helps finance this service? "Who is using vTuner Internet Radio?", we'll see, I'll keep you updated if we manage to get a response.
-
In fact, Sagemcom has never been listed as a partner on the Vtuner site (I had already checked a while ago).

Hello,
It seems that every day I try something… and it's radio silence.
What equivalent models are available on the market? Any suggestions?

Hello,
I just followed up with vtuner via email to the 2 available addresses.
In parallel, and to try to get by without vtuner, I'm trying to broadcast a public http stream (France Info) through a UPNP server. The RM50 is capable of handling UPNP but in practice, it refuses any type of stream! Has anyone ever managed to connect a stream on a UPNP (DLNA) on an RM50?

Type in your search engine: vtuner support and you will find the email address. You can provide them with the MAC address found on the label under the device. In 2022, I contacted support in English and did not receive a response. The connection interruption lasted about ten days. I fear that this time the connection to the server may be permanently deleted...., but let's wait a bit longer....

Temporary, we must hope. Then, as long as doing without v-tuner... it's too technical for me as well.

Hello,
This question will probably not find any more answers than during the successive incidents of 2022, which have still not been resolved due to a change of service provider.
Having followed the subject at the time, including on the Orange forum, it appeared then, as it does now, that there are issues regarding rights transfers between companies and repeated service interruptions by the last holder.
Apart from the solution mentioned by Megadec, it is unlikely that the volunteers from CCM can intervene on your provider's network servers, especially since it was mentioned that there was an incompatibility with the device's firmware.
-
Hello,
The question you raise is about a similar device that was marketed by Orange, but it is not the same; however, it is likely that this technology will end up in the same situation, including on other devices where it exists (HiFi systems...) due to the disappearance of the offer for these devices and the "new consumption habits" where people connect to radios via smartphones or smart TVs.
But where one of the speakers was right is regarding the diversity of the offer (in this case, classical music), I won't comment on what prevails on current channels except to say that, as with certain series or films, people are only offered what is supposed to please the majority.

Indeed, in 2022 there was no explanation, but the problem was resolved and everything has worked since then.
We can only hope that the same solution will be found... even without an explanation. But it is true that sooner or later, this stoppage will unfortunately be permanent.

Thank you for all this information. I have been working hard all evening yesterday, January 20, and today, January 21, 2025, and I'm relieved to see that this is a general problem. What bothers me is that I use my SagemCom RM50 device to listen to public foreign language radios (German, Spanish, English) during my breakfast, which keeps my contact with these languages, without advertisements (an incredible luxury)... and I can't see myself doing the same thing with an earpiece on a smartphone (which I don't have - by choice). Not to mention that this type of content is certainly not the one promoted by the dominant commercial servers!
Maybe a solution would be to create a foundation to purchase the rights from the company to ensure its sustainability.
For your information, the vTuner server is accessible on computer.
Have a good evening everyone.
