I applied this on my wife's smartphone which had the same problem:
UPES errors (with numbers varying: 021, 102, 157, 160, etc.) have existed since version 5 of the MyCANAL app for Android and Android TV. They are fixed with version 5.6.1 of the app.
If the error persists, please check the following points:
- Check for the update to version 5.6.1.
- Update Android or your Android TV in the settings of your smartphone or television.
It may also be necessary to force the quality to 720p by following the procedure below to switch to Widevine Level 3:
- Open the MyCANAL app
- Open your profile in the top right corner
- Settings
- Press the version number 5 times, until you see a small video
- Go back
- Settings
- Debug
- Limit to HD 720p: Yes
Same error message on my end since this morning. But only on my tablet, it works on my phone.
Have you contacted Canal's customer service to report the issue?

Good evening,
I was stuck as well! Thank you for the detailed instructions on how to still watch content, even if it feels like streaming from 2010 haha ;)
