Hello,

For about two weeks now, I've been receiving random and incessant calls that closely resemble my own number, with only the last two or four digits changing. The first time, it was a so-called craftsman from the Paris suburbs installing photovoltaic panels, with a number that only differed by the last digit. I gave him all my details, and he promised that within three days at the latest I would receive the form to fill out. The quote never arrived. Out of curiosity, I called this number back the next day with another phone using a private number, and it went to a voicemail belonging to a liberal nursing practice based in Strasbourg (67)! And of course, it continued, until I received a call... displaying my own number (just this morning!).

I don't know how to deal with these seemingly malicious calls, some of which turn out to be unassigned when I try to call back! These are not online marketers because their numbers never start with 0162, 0163, 0270, 0271, 0377, 0378, 0424, 0425, 0567, 0568 or 0948.

Thank you for informing me if you have any idea about this new type of calls.

Hello,

Without passing any judgment, I find it unwise to give your contact details to an anonymous correspondent who comes offering services that you haven't requested.

This is all the more true given that the media continually denounces mass scams, which encourage the initiation of loans that are supposedly repayable, and which sometimes result in the sale of the borrower's home.

But there are other sources of deception aimed at consenting victims:

- deliverers of unordered products, fake bank advisors asking you to confirm your ID, notifications of changes to your profile coming from Ameli, or suspicious renewals of your Vital card.

As for the "newness" of these practices, it is established that criminals generate fake numbers, including the number of the person called.

The eradication of this scheme will only occur when operators have implemented procedures that are temporarily effective, based on the missile/anti-missile principle.

Personally, I apply a 100% effective method: I never answer an unknown number that I haven't saved in my contact list. Interlocutors whom I agree to call back will leave a message.
