For those with "LENOVO fan error on startup"

I also have a Lenovo ThinkPad R500 for daily tasks that has been working for years. One day it showed a "fan error" at startup.

I vacuumed all the cooling air intakes at the top left. It restarted normally; the fan was clogged with dust and other small external elements. I haven't disassembled anything, just vacuumed from time to time. There is a kit of attachments that reduce the vacuum nozzle that can be found in stores. There you go, hope this helps.
