How to install an app on a Philips smart TV

Hello,

I have a Philips 65PUS8949 Ambilight smart TV and I don't have Google Play, and I can't install new applications.

I'm not very skilled with computers, so maybe it's normal that I can't add other applications.

    Hello,

    Some "smart" TVs, I'm not sure if this is the case, are only installed with the applications that the manufacturer chose to include and are not fully-fledged Android TVs: in this scenario, there isn't truly any Android, and therefore no Google Play to install applications of your choice.

      We agree: it is a proprietary operating system that is not Android and is specifically designed to prevent the user from installing whatever they want (and incidentally for the manufacturer to avoid paying fees to Google; Android is Open Source but its applications are not).
