Hello,

To use the sfc utility, you need to be an administrator
running a console session.
PS C:\Users\HP>

So, what should I do?

YOU did not mention this situation

Hello,

You can be an administrator of your PC and use it in guest mode. If the software is installed, you can launch it by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting "Run as administrator."

If you are not an administrator (for example, on a company computer), you cannot run system software. You need to be temporarily authorized by the IT department or request their intervention.

YOU should not mention this situation

Various stakeholders have indicated this solution or others each time the question has been asked or the "problem" encountered.

Hello,

The author is a bit telegraphic; this is not software but rather the utility integrated into Windows that can be launched either from PowerShell, as shown in their screenshot if you like complications, or from the command prompt. In both cases, you should right-click, run as administrator, and it requires, indeed, that you have administrator rights on the PC in question.

Moreover, "SFC brut de coffrage" doesn't mean anything; you need to use one of the switches that, as usual, if you don't know, you can find out by using /?.

And we don't know who "YOU" is.

Hello Brucine,

Thank you for this response which is more precise and complete than mine. Not least because we do not know if the applicant has the rights; otherwise, they will not be able to follow the proposed methods.

I suppose the "You" is addressed to the supposed technical team, which does not exist as everyone knows, CCM (the forum) being run by volunteers properly supervised by moderators (note to visitors).

I have a memory lapse and I can't be the guinea pig, I only have an administrator account (it's not good, I know).

A number of commands fail from a user account, I can't remember if in this particular case, simple elevation as indicated is censored due to lack of local strategies.

Some commands are even trickier and require "elevation" (in French we execute the console as administrator even if we are logged in as an administrator).

I'm skipping over the potential intervention of UAC, which is also disabled on my machine (I know, it's still not good).

Hello while passing...

And we don't know who "YOU" are.

It must be this...

Most of the time, when a question of this type is asked on the forum, it's useful to "snoop" around in the posts.... (Posts that of course only reflect their authors and have no connection with moderation)

Hello,

I suppose the author of the article is paid by the line, starting off by concocting some sort of conspiracy theory while SFC has been documented in Windows for ages, then continuing to ramble and ending up lacking conciseness.

I've never understood why Windows installs the Terminal by default; it does have some differences from PowerShell, but they go over the heads of nearly all users.

That said, and unless I am some sort of peculiar specimen, he did everything to lose the reader: I have nothing like Terminal (Administrator) in the start menu, just Terminal, and not to mention that the average person goes through the command prompt.
