When you disassemble a laptop and notice thermal tape (sometimes used to insulate or protect heat-sensitive components), it is important to use an adhesive tape designed for high-temperature environments.

Here are some types of thermal tapes commonly used to replace this kind of tape:

  1. Kapton (Polyimide) Tape:
It is one of the most commonly used tapes in electronics for its insulating properties and heat resistance (up to about 400°C). It is ideal for insulating and protecting components against heat while having high electrical resistance.

  2. Aluminum Adhesive Tape:
Often used for applications related to heat dissipation, this tape can withstand high temperatures and is good for reflecting heat. It is also used in ventilation and air conditioning systems.

  3. Fiberglass Adhesive Tape:
This tape is often coated with silicone and is used for thermally insulating electronic components that may be exposed to extreme temperatures.

  4. Thermal Adhesive Tape:
This type of tape is often used to attach heat sinks to components like chips or processors. It has both good thermal conductivity and strong adhesion capacity.

Among these options, Kapton Tape is generally the most common choice for electronic repairs, as it offers good heat resistance without interfering with the components.

Do you have any recommendations, feedback, or advice, please?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi

Just for the reader, it's important to clearly distinguish in the list the thermal insulators that do not conduct heat, and the 4: often referred to as thermal pad which, like thermal paste, is a very good conductor, on the contrary, for dissipating heat from CPU components, GPU chips, memory chips, certain capacitors, or NVMe drives.

Note for silicones: a family of products where some are thermal insulators, but others are thermal conductors depending on the location and conditions of use as well.
