Hello,

I don't have internet and I wanted to know how to install TNT in the rooms considering that I only have RJ45 sockets and I don't want to install internet for now; I also don't have the phone cables to set up. So I wanted to know if it's possible and how to do it, knowing that in the living room I have a regular TV socket.

    Hello,

    It's strange that with a coaxial socket in the living room, there aren't any in the bedrooms.

    Nowadays, it is no longer necessary to install coaxial for DTT TV. We can use Ethernet for TV. However, we need Grade 3 Ethernet cables in the walls. Using Category 6 or even 7 Ethernet cables for computer networking is not sufficient. When the installation is done for TV via Ethernet, there should not be any coaxial sockets in the rooms, so it's likely that your cables are not Grade 3 cables.

    In this type of installation, a VDI network (Voice, Data, Images) is set up; in the communication box, at the end of the coaxial cable coming from the antenna, a coaxial/Ethernet splitter is placed: https://www.e-planetelec.fr/repartiteur-tv/1729-kit-repartiteur-tv-sur-rj45-4-sorties-go188.html?gad_source=1

      Hi Jee Pee,
      It's a nice thing, but it's mono-signal... all the TVs receive the same signal....
      Otherwise, you need to put a demodulator in front of each TV..
      Cable distribution isn't easy if you don't have a smart TV..
      In hotels, it stays in HF (coaxial), it seems simpler and above all it's planned for it from the start!

        This connection remains a connection for the DTT coming from the aerial, the Ethernet network is only used to transmit the DTT signal; otherwise, it is the same installation as a purely coaxial connection for DTT.

    Hello,

    Even if these RJ45 jacks are correctly wired, they are useless without internet.

    Therefore, the TV must come either from antenna sockets connected to the rooftop antenna or from satellite and dish.

    In both cases, if you are in a co-ownership, you need the approval of the general assembly for either the satellite dish or to wire antenna sockets to the collective antenna.

    Thank you, that's what I thought, but the builder told me that it would work with a decoder, which is why I didn't have standard sockets installed in the bedrooms.

      Yes, but a decoder or player requires an internet subscription, not receiving TV via DTT.

      We can try to use the installed Ethernet cables for testing, but there’s no guarantee that DTT will work or that all channels will be available.
