How to copy or modify a PDF

Hello,

I tried to open an odt document but Avast blocked it saying that a website was trying to access it, so I blocked the access, but I don't know if that was something I should have done. As a result, I only have the pdf version left that I can open. So I need to be able to either restore the odt version or edit the pdf version.

    Hello,

Can you provide information about this odt file?

Did you create it? Is it on your computer? Does it contain macros?

What is well conceived is clearly expressed,
And the words to say it come easily.

It's me who created it and it's on my computer. It's a 410-page ms.

      It's Avast being overzealous!

There’s no reason for an external program to try to access your file. Plus, you probably have a firewall.

Ignore the Avast alert. If you want complete peace of mind, disconnect from the Internet.

You can work on your odt file in complete peace.

    I can't because I can't open it.

Would it be a document that you created using copy/paste from parts taken from websites?
In that case, it is very likely that your PDF file includes links to those sites.

Not at all, but it's certain that there are some site names because they are references. In any case, I need a way to restore it or be able to modify the pdf.

Whatever the case, I need to find a way to restore it or to be able to edit the PDF.

Editing the PDF is out of the question. I assume you do not have the (expensive and paid) software that allows you to do it; otherwise, you wouldn't have asked the question. You can only make minor modifications for free.

You are left with converting the PDF to ODT.

      Go to the site https://www.ilovepdf.com/

You will request the conversion of your PDF file to a Word document (file .docx).

LibreOffice (or OpenOffice) can open the Word document that will have been generated by Ilovepdf. You will then save it in ODT format.

There will likely be some minor differences from the original document (the one that is locked). By comparing it to the PDF, you will make the necessary corrections.

It worked, but now everything is messed up, there are all sorts of weird anomalies, and I can't fix them.

To modify or copy a file, you need to convert it to Word first, then modify it or select the PDF file and convert it to Word in order to edit the document, then reconvert it using Convertio or another file conversion site so that you can put it back in PDF format; you will have your file modified this way.

I would still need to modify it.

      Good evening,

Use the very serious, secure, free, German: PDF 24
      Either via the Internet:
      https://tools.pdf24.org/en/

Or by installing it on your computer:
      https://tools.pdf24.org/en/creator

After that, you have the Canadian PDF-XChange Editor, but it is limited if you don’t have a license; I use it with a license, and it’s incredibly effective.

But normally, LibreOffice allows you to edit a PDF; especially since ODT is its format.

      Best regards.
