Time tracking on Family Link

Hello,

Do you know how Family Link concretely counts the time? Is it the time spent actively on an app or the time during which the app is open?

This could potentially make a big difference: let's imagine my son opens YouTube on his tablet for 15 minutes and then plays Minecraft for an hour without closing the YouTube tab: will Family Link display a total time of 1 hour 15 minutes (active use on both apps) or 2 hours 15 minutes (cumulative time both apps were open)?

Thank you for your insights!

Hello.

It all depends on the setting that has been made. If it's a general time limit, for example, 5 hours of use per day on a tablet, he will only be able to use it for 5 hours.

However, if it's an app usage limit, each time the app is opened, a countdown starts. Once the time limit is reached, he can no longer use it, but he can use other apps.
