Playstation 4 unable to connect to wifi network
Anonymous user -
Hello everyone,
For some time now, but I can't say exactly since when because my PS4 is rarely online, I can't connect to my fiber Livebox. Every time I have to do an update, it's "connection impossible" at the moment of retrieving the IP address. So, I have to retest the connection, and if I'm lucky on the third try it connects, but with a terrible speed, like 10 hours for a 20GB update on a game when a year ago, when we got fiber, it was super fast.
Of course, before throwing my post here, I did some research and tried several solutions without success:
- Switching the connection to 5GHz, supposedly faster
- Disabling remote play (I might be mistaken about the name of the option)
- Deleting my connection and setting it up again.
I should note that I'm told the signal might be too weak, blah blah, but on my phone it works perfectly, just like on the PC I'm writing from. Anyway, I don't know if it's my PS4 that's malfunctioning or not...
Thanks for your help!

It’s possible that the problem comes from certain network settings or the PS4. Here are several solutions to try:
1. Restart your router and your PS4: Unplug both devices, wait a few minutes, and plug them back in.
2. Update the system software of your PS4: Make sure your PS4 is up to date. The latest updates often include fixes for connection issues.
3. Change your PS4's DNS settings: Sometimes, switching to a public DNS server can help resolve connection issues. Try using Google’s DNS servers, for example (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4).
4. Check your router’s settings: Ensure that the NAT settings are set to 2. Also, try placing the PS4 in the DMZ in your router’s settings.
If all these solutions fail, the problem may lie with the PS4 itself. If that’s the case, it may be necessary to contact Sony support for further assistance.
