Blocked, iMessage shows "delivered" after a few hours.

Hello,

Someone has blocked me, apparently, due to a complicated breakup.

I can't help but write to them on iMessage. When I write, nothing happens. And after a few hours, "delivered" appears.
Knowing that I have iOS 16.1.1

Also, when I call, I go directly to voicemail.

My question is as follows:

Is it possible to block someone so that I don't receive their messages and the sender doesn't see "delivered," but then be able to lift this "block" at any time to check the messages that may have been sent during this "off" period? Is that why I see "delivered" at that time?
