Gray camera icon instead of blue on Messenger

Hello, for the past few days, I've noticed that for four of my contacts on Messenger, the phone and camera icons are gray instead of blue. I can no longer contact them through these means. I didn’t ask for this, there’s been no blocking, nothing. Why? I’ve searched everywhere to resolve the issue, but I haven’t found anything. It's frustrating!
