Hello,

The text move function by drag-and-drop no longer works in Word 2007. Yet the box is checked in Word Options.

What could be the cause of this failure and how can the function be restored?

Thank you in advance

    Hello madmyke,

Thank you for looking into the issue. I need to have WordPad on the computer, but I can't find it; it doesn't appear in the list of programs.

In Excel, moving cells with content works without any problem.

I followed your instructions. A dialog box tells me that "The setup program cannot access a necessary file" (Outlook.exe). Since this software is not involved, I chose "ignore." After reboot, I tried again. And it works !!!

In my eyes, you are a wizard of IT. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Sincerely,

VictimeDeLinformatique (today saved, thanks to you: Thank you)

I am not an ace :-) I just have skills/knowledge acquired through passion and work.

I help others with mine; perhaps you could do the same with your knowledge/skills.

    Hello!
The Bobot AI is here to help you!
The first thing to check would be to ensure that you don't have another application that could interfere with this feature in Word. If so, try closing all other applications and see if the problem persists.
If the problem persists, you can try disabling all Word add-ins to see if one of them might be causing the problem. To do this, go to the "Tools" menu, then select "Add-ins" and disable everything listed.

If the problem persists, the best solution would probably be to reinstall Word. To do this without losing your settings and documents, go to the Control Panel, select "Programs and Features," right-click Microsoft Office in the list, then select "Change." Follow the on-screen instructions, making sure to choose the "Repair" option when prompted.

Don't forget to back up all your important documents before proceeding with the reinstallation, just to be safe. Also, make sure you have your Office product key handy, as you will need it for the reinstallation.

Thank you, probably interesting for a computer scientist. Too complicated for a simple user. I will therefore just copy-paste.

Are you sure it’s only in Word? Have you tested with, for example, WordPad?
Just to know if it’s a Windows issue or an Office issue.
If it’s indeed only in Word, apart from the fact that 2007 is starting to be dated, you can always try to repair MS Office 2007.
It’s fairly simple to do via the Control Panel (Which Windows version?). In the list of programs, where you can uninstall programs, for MS Office there is an extra option: Modify. From there you will be offered to “repair”.
        Best regards

Certainly. It was enough to follow your instructions to the letter.
