Original and new battery vs compatible battery

Hello everyone,

The battery of my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is wearing out and I would like to get a new one, but I have these questions considering that this mobile is from 2019, as are the original and new batteries for this model:
1) Is it worth buying a new and original battery that was manufactured over 4 years ago in my case? Because even if it hasn't been used, the battery still degrades chemically, doesn't it?
2) Wouldn't it be better to buy a recent compatible battery (albeit not original) that could last longer than an old original battery?

Thank you for your feedback

    Hello

"Is it worth buying a new, original battery that was manufactured over 4 years ago?"

No, "you should always check the manufacturing date of a battery" is the general advice, precisely for the reason you mentioned.

But who wants to sell you a new, original battery that was manufactured 4 years ago?

Original doesn’t mean manufactured 4 years ago, it only means that it’s exactly the original model intended for the device. In particular, the charging system is specifically adapted by the manufacturer for this model.

And for a lithium battery, the precision of this setting is essential for its lifespan but especially for safety.

"knowing that this mobile dates back to 2019 as well as the original and new batteries for this model:"

For me, this statement is more than curious. Where did you find this information, seriously?

      Hello,

Nothing, moreover, attests that a compatible battery sold on a certain date was produced at a more recent date than its corresponding original date.

    Hello, thanks for your reply.

Since it always says 2019 on original Samsung Galaxy Note 10 batteries, I thought they were all manufactured 4 years ago and that some were intended to replace worn-out batteries after a year or two...

In your opinion, would Samsung still continue to manufacture new and recent batteries even though their model is over 4 years old? (case of the Note 10, therefore)

I recently got tricked by a repairman whose supplier sent him an original and supposedly new battery, while AccuBattery shows a 61% health percentage for the battery and Android's diagnostic tool says "weak condition" and "action required" regarding this battery, so it's clearly not new...

Therefore, I would like to ensure that I buy a NEW battery and, if possible, an original/recent one.

It seems impossible to me that Samsung sells batteries produced in 2019, so they must have been produced since then.

I don't know if Samsung sells directly or continues to do so for the "older" models, which would ensure a greater "freshness" of stock, or if the manufacturing or marketing is now entrusted to subcontractors or third parties.

You have no way with a less than honest third-party supplier or one poorly managing their stock to know when a battery was produced and therefore how long it has been stored unless explicitly stated otherwise or through potential research of a serial number; it is likely that the indication "2019" merely reflects the commercialization date of the model and ensures that the battery is compatible with the model in question.
