New tablet, empty battery

Hello, I received my tablet (TCL 10tabmax) last week when ordering through Fnac (marketplace).

However the battery was completely empty upon unboxing, it took almost a minute to display the battery level and another to start charging. It charged in a time that, all things considered, was quite normal; the battery life seems fine, even very good for the moment (we’re exceeding the promised hours of gameplay, for example).

My question is: if everything is fine now, is it okay? or is there a risk that it will fail in the days to come due to the complete discharge related to storage I presume?

Thanks in advance!

    HELLO,

Test it for 1 week or more. We cannot do it for you, or otherwise, you can also Request explanations from FNAC, the seller of your tablet.

Question: What is the full discharge related to storage?

Thank you, yes I asked Fnac (difficult to contact the seller, if not Fnac is an intermediary)

Regarding the discharge related to storage I mainly wanted to say that this tablet is not recent, so even new, it was stored in a warehouse, locked in its box, the battery didn’t hold up I think...

Anyway no problem for the moment, I hope it lasts because there is no one to replace the battery of this device in my area...

      What year is your tablet?

      Hello,

Pity that it fell outside the legal warranty framework (2021-2023). Was it considered refurbished or used?

New and still in original packaging and sealed, and presumably still under warranty for two years and one year for parts. (complicated though since it's in Spain)

        My dealer isn't responding.

For the moment it's fine, it holds up really well. They promise five hours of play, we go wide by turning on Minecraft etc... For example almost 4 hours of gameplay for 50% battery. I find it very good.

I really just have this fear that it has been damaged and that it will show up in the next charges.

In fact, I had bought the same one for my son in 2021, that's why I chose the same. It seemed ideal for our use.

        Hello,

Without wanting to worry you and having no way to reassure you, I must say that Fnac apparently appears only as a Marketplace and that they will probably invoke the primacy of the transaction between the seller and you or at least the fact that they cannot directly guarantee a product that has not passed through their services.

That said, as indicated in my other post, we must take into account the factor of "total battery usage time," which is not verifiable, rather than visible damages (shock, drop).

    Hello,

One point that stands out to me. How should a device dated 21 be considered new, given that a battery—supposed to last only two to three years—often ends up failing the fastest (I doubt it would be covered by the warranty).

Additionally, this same battery is no longer capable of being recharged to full capacity after some time, knowing that its capacity decreases month by month (in my case, my Samsung smartphone went from a week to two hours after three years). But it’s possible that I misunderstood the messages in this thread.

I think we misunderstand each other because of my multiple responses xD

I received this tablet last week for myself, so new. (and my son has the same model, he got his in 2021)

My dealer answered me this morning and apparently I shouldn’t worry. It was a small discharge, it turned on by itself and it holds charge well.

To reassure myself I’ll let it break in a bit more. And if it doesn’t hold up over time soon, well that will teach me to choose my dealers carefully.

Thanks for your responses anyway, it’s very comforting to get feedback.

Thank you for your clarifications. You can count on compliant usage following the confirmation from your dealer.

      Best regards.
