Hello, good evening,

I'm reaching out to you because I'm getting fed up. For the last 3 months, it seems my CPL is throttling on its own every time. Could it be coming from my PC?

Here's the situation: I turn on my PC as usual, I do my updates on Steam to play, and for 3 months I've noticed that I download at 25 Mbps. I run a speed test and indeed I’m at 25 Mbps. I run a speed test on my phone and there I’m at 85-90 Mbps. I unplug/replug the CPL, I resynchronize it and I run a speed test, and voilà—great, I’m back to 85-90 Mbps for the rest of the day/evening!

Problem! Once I restart or power off/on the PC, weirdly I drop back to 25 Mbps. I have to unplug again and resynchronize the CPL once more, and this happens every time I use the PC.

Help me, I’m getting fed up with having to do this each time to make the most of what I’m paying for.

    hello,

Is the PC connected by wifi or by cable to the powerline adapter (PLC/CPL)?

Is the phone connected via the powerline adapter?

      Hello,

my computer is connected to the PLC via cable, I don’t have Wi-Fi on the PC.

      Phone connected to Wi-Fi directly.

    Hello,

it's the randomness of powerline adapters, very sensitive to their electrical environment, a device that interferes a bit and makes things derail.

It wasn't noticeable on ADSL, but they're not on par with fiber connections.

You can try to uncover which device generates the disturbances; they’re often chargers, small power supplies, but that won't fix everything.

The only solution is the direct cable, there are very discreet relatively easy to install or the wifi mesh system often more performant than powerline adapters, especially with wifi 6.

And there you have it, there you go, there we go ....

But alas, how annoying those line breaks are!!

      Hello,

being in Belgium, and the world knows that Belgium is behind on everything, I am only on VDSL2+ via telephone socket, so a max speed of 100 Mbps, but I was thinking of using a longer Ethernet cable, I should look into that.

Thanks for replying, I didn’t expect so many problems with powerline adapters ????

Those who don't have a problem with powerline modems today are lucky...
