Disable autoplay in VLC

Hello

When VLC is open and I drag an MP3 or MP4 file into it, playback starts immediately.

Can we prevent that, meaning the audio or video loads into VLC but doesn't start, and only starts when we click on the usual right arrow?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Jack.

Thanks fmq.

The problem then is that if I drag 3 MP3 files into the playlist, it plays them one after the other! That's not what I want.

In fact, I want to start and stop my tracks myself, plain and simple!

Maybe another player can do that?

No, it doesn’t do what I want, the MP3 playback starts automatically... :-(

So I have a broader question:

Does anyone know of an MP3 player (Windows or iOS) that stops at the end of a track and does not automatically play the next one?

I have tested VLC and Flacbox: they relentlessly queue up the MP3s and there is nothing in the settings to prevent that!

Hello,

In VLC, tools/preferences/playback check Start in pause and Play then pause

Hello,

It should be specified that in the Preferences, you need to check All, at the bottom of the window. Otherwise, we miss out on everything interesting!

Indeed, it needs to have all the options

And maybe even the 2 options I mentioned earlier are unnecessary. After resetting all the options to zero; to start from a baseline situation, it should always be enough to uncheck Auto-launch in the Playlist.
