Hello,

I installed the "Link to Windows" app on my Windows 11 PC.

On the other hand, I installed "Your Phone Companion" on my Android mobile.

Until 3 days ago, I was receiving SMS, photos, and contacts on my PC without any problems. Now I no longer have access to them. Each time, on either side (PC or mobile), I am prompted for permissions, which I have granted.

I updated "Your Phone Companion".

I must admit I no longer know how to retrieve SMS and photos on the PC.

On the mobile, I can see the name of the PC, and it says "connected".

On the PC, "Link to Windows" opens, but that's it.

Could you please help me clarify this issue?

Thank you in advance,

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem.

This happened after a Microsoft Store update..

Or:

And every time, I go through the procedure below:

On the PC:

Uninstall ''Mobile Connect'' on W11.

Settings ►Apps►Installed Apps

In the list, scroll down to ►Mobile Connect

Click on the three horizontal dots then click on ►Advanced options

Scroll down to the section ►Reset

Click on ► Reset (no data loss).

Note that ''Uninstall'' is grayed out.

On the mobile smartphone:

Uninstall the app ► Link to Windows

On the PC:

Install from the Microsoft Store ==► Mobile Connect

On the mobile smartphone:

Go to the Play Store and install ==► Link to Windows

Start by installing Mobile Connect on the PC.

As it requires permissions, install Link to Windows simultaneously on the smartphone.

One of the trickiest steps is scanning the QR code on the PC.

No need to launch the camera on the smartphone.

Once this step is done, there are many other permissions to accept on the smartphone, and finally, we reach the end of the last step.

The data (SMS, photos, messages) are not always visible once the steps are completed.

A restart of the PC or Mobile Connect on the PC is sufficient.

See you later!

I bring a clarification that may be important, but is not one.

The box is grayed out in the W11 settings when trying to uninstall the Mobile Connect application.

The ''Reset'' option is sufficient, it's almost the same thing.

For example, it is possible to uninstall Mobile Connect with IObit Uninstaller

In this example, it is with the portable version of IObit Uninstaller.

After changing the language (it's in Settings).

Once in French, click on the left menu =► Windows Apps

In the top box type =► mobile connect

Check the box mobile connect

Click on =► Uninstall

Check the box to create a restore point.

Follow the procedure:

Select all registry keys and click Uninstall

Then, go to the Microsoft Store and get Mobile Connect to install it.

This essentially amounts to ''Resetting' the Mobile Connect application in the W11 settings.

See you later!

Installation or Resetting of the Mobile Connected application on PC and smartphone.

There are plenty of tutorials on the Web, which can be quite confusing when it comes to installing the Mobile Connected application. (Your phone was the previous name).

Hello,

Once Mobile connected is associated with the smartphone, the application launches on Windows PC startup.

We can leave it as is.

Let's see how to disable it:

Solution 1:

Right-click on the Start button.

Click on the line =►Settings

Or use the keyboard shortcut Windows + i (i for Isidor).

In the left menu, click on =►Applications

Click on =► Startup

In the list of applications launched at startup, locate Mobile connected.

Disable the highlight.

Mobile connected will be disabled on the next startup of the PC.

Solution 2:

Right-click on the Start button.

Click on the line =►Task Manager

With W11 click on the 3 vertical lines located at the top left.

Click on the line =►Startup applications

Locate Mobile connected in the list.

Right-click on Mobile connected.

Click on =►Disable

Mobile connected will be disabled on the next startup of the PC.

Cheers!

Add Connected Mobile to the Windows taskbar:

Click on the Start button or the Search box on the taskbar.

In the Search box, type =► connected mobile

Click =► Pin to taskbar

Connected Mobile icon on the taskbar.

Repeat the same procedure to pin Connected Mobile in the Start menu.

This is to free up space on the taskbar.

See you!
