PC won't turn on after SSD installation

Hello,

I just acquired a Samsung SSD 870 QVO of 1TB, but when it is connected, the computer does not start.

I noticed that the fan starts spinning for half a second before stopping. The LEDs are on, but the screen is black and I can't access the BIOS. Once the SSD is disconnected, the PC starts up normally.

While scouring forums for an answer (without success), I found that several people had the same problem.

Arf, it's okay since you have a "Peripheral/SATA" output.

Sorry, it's been a long time since I've had that kind of connection, I'm on an SSD M2 NVMe ;-)

    Otherwise, I think so,
but have you tried another socket from the power supply?
have you tried changing the SATA socket on the motherboard side?

    See you!

    No worries!

Yes, I also have an M2 NVMe SSD as my main drive, the 870 QVO is an additional one for storage and especially for installing games ^^.

I have indeed tested the various ports of the power supply and the different SATA ports.

I read that some SATA ports might be disabled when connecting an M2 SSD (if I understood correctly ^^), and since my main drive is one, I tested all the ports just in case... But nothing works, the result remains the same.

I saw that this type of connection also exists for the Samsung SSD 870 QVO.

Would this have an impact on the performance of a game installed on the SSD if it's connected via USB rather than directly to the motherboard? I imagine it would, but oh well x)

    Hello,

What is your SSD electrically connected to? I have the impression that it's connected directly to the power supply... but that's not possible.

    See you!

      Hello NonoM45,

Yes, it is directly connected to the power supply unit. If that's indeed the issue, it's much simpler than I imagined ^^

But for the installation, I based myself on this video:

and it seemed to me that the person directly plugged the cable into the unit, right?

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
