Unable to send downloaded GIFs via Messaging
Let -
Hello,
I just got a Xiaomi Rednote 12, and while it worked for 3 days, I can no longer send GIFs that I downloaded to my Photos Gallery via SMS/MMS (without mobile data or Wi-Fi activated) since this morning. I’m using the Messaging app that is pre-installed on the phone.
When I try to attach a GIF - which was previously downloaded and is in an album - an error message appears: "Failed to select this attachment."
Can you help me?
Thank you in advance for your responses!!
Have a great day :-)

Hello,
If I understand correctly, a text message with an image is an MMS, and an MMS in general requires internet, so it’s not possible without mobile data or Wi-Fi unless you adjust the APN settings specifically according to the operator, see for example here for SFR.

Hello,
I have always been able to send MMS (whether they are photos or gifs, downloaded on my mobile device beforehand) without mobile data or wifi. That's why I'm asking the question. I'm with the operator Orange.
I don't see why, when it used to work, it no longer works.
Thank you in advance for your answers!

And yet it moves, there is no miraculous manipulation, either the MMS goes through the telephone network using an appropriate APN, or mobile data is required.
So, either a specific APN for MMS is set up on the phone, or the phone itself (depending on the model) automatically activates mobile data for the duration of the MMS, or the operator activates (or blocks) this same function.
The subject is documented everywhere on the Internet, concerning Orange, the MMS APN would automatically enable 4G.

Now, why the operation is random depending on the "forces at play," I don't know, technically there is no other way.
Re hello,
Your explanation/reasoning doesn’t hold up. Indeed, I have always been able to send photo or gif MMS (I repeat, gifs in this case already downloaded on the device) without mobile data or wifi activated with this (new) phone.
Now I can only do it if the downloaded gif is attached to the message from the phone’s general Photos. If I select the gif stored in a photo Album, then I now get a message saying "Failed to select this attachment."
I hope someone can help me! I have searched everywhere I could, in phone Settings and on the web, and found nothing.
