Philips TV: black screen, but sound and backlight are fine

Hello,

Some friends have a Philips television that no longer displays an image (black screen). The sound and backlight, however, are working perfectly.

The device is no longer under warranty (by a few months, of course), so we disassembled it to try to find the failure.

We changed the TCON board and the main board without success.

However, we noticed that when we disconnect one of the two ribbons connecting the TCON board to the panel, the image appears on half of the panel. And this works for both sides alternately.

So, we are a bit lost on what could be causing this. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your insights.

Have the ribbons connecting the TCOM board to the panel been changed?

    Hello,

And thank you for the response.

No, the tablecloths have not been changed since individually, they transmit the signal. So we didn't think of that.

Do you think that could be the issue?

      Hello,

Nothing ventured, nothing gained... In my opinion, by unplugging them, you may have damaged one of the ribbons or its connector.
