Hello,
- The dimensions of an A1 sheet are 841 * 594 (in mm).
- The dimensions of an A4 sheet are 297 * 210 (in mm).
These are similar rectangles with a dimension ratio of 841 / 297 = 2.83
(the ratio of the widths is the same: 594 / 210 = 2.83)
If your drawing in A1 was at a scale of 1/10, it means that 1 cm on the sheet represents 10 cm in reality.
When you switch to A4, 1 cm on the A1 sheet becomes 1/2.83 cm on the A4 sheet, which is 0.353 cm.
Your scale of 1/10 thus becomes 0.353 / 10 or 1 / (10*594/210) = 1 / 28.3
In general, you make the scale change by dividing the numerator of the old scale by 594/210 = 2.83 or by multiplying the denominator by the same number.
What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.
