How to avoid verifying your LinkedIn identity with a document
SolvedLoulou -
Hello,
Since this morning, I can no longer access my LinkedIn account; I need to verify my identity with an up-to-date identification document. I am very bothered because it seems rather insecure to send my papers like that... do you have any solutions, please? (I read the LinkedIn forum, I could go to the police station but I am abroad and they do not offer to verify my account with my professional email). Are there any solutions? It is written that we cannot blur anything, not even the document number... Has this become mandatory only in certain countries (and then using a VPN could be useful)?
Thank you in advance and have a great day,
Camille

Hello
I need to verify my identity with an up-to-date ID. I'm really bothered because it seems pretty unsafe to send my documents like that...
Indeed, more and more platforms and social networks, to resolve their security issues related to hacking and the verification of individuals connecting, are imposing identity document checks and accumulating personal data, while sometimes official police or gendarmerie services do not allow such checks without specific reasons. (and do not store them in computer files with all kinds of activities concerning you, bank data, purchases, etc.)
Indeed, these same platforms are hacked by the millions, with lists of personal information for sale on the darknet.
Indeed, the European Union is cracking down on social networks and imposing heavy fines when this personal data ends up on servers halfway across the world in conditions of security beyond control (sometimes without protection sources of hacking).
But access to their accounts is something they alone freely impose conditions upon.
So there are no solutions; this is deliberate on their part, and you give authorization on the other hand...
Hello Camille,
Me too: my account has been inaccessible since last Friday. They also asked me for an ID, and I have 2 friends in the same situation.
I think you can pass it on to them without any problem, their security systems are good and they have trusted certifications.
With the rise of LinkedIn and content creators, the platform has become a very lucrative business for cyber villains on the darknet or elsewhere... They are launching a major security operation with user identity verification. I think there’s no need to worry if you haven’t broken any rules: insults, harassment, racist or sexist remarks, etc., your account will be restored.
Just send them a clear and complete photo of your ID, as requested, and wait between 5 and 10 business days.
Generally, you should have received an email notifying you that your account is restricted. You can reply to that to communicate with someone from LinkedIn. I received a response within 48 hours.
That's it.
Keep us posted ;)
