Hello,

It's been a little while now that every time I open LibreOffice, there's a small window that pops up saying:

“Another instance of LibreOffice is accessing your personal settings or they are locked.

Simultaneous access may cause inconsistencies in your personal settings. Before proceeding, make sure that user ‘ ’ has closed LibreOffice on host ‘ ’.”

I don't understand anything at all, if someone could help me.

My PC also turns off by itself for no reason and then turns back on a few seconds later. And sometimes when I’m on LibreOffice, a small black window appears and quickly disappears in the middle of the page.

(I should mention that I really don't know much about this, that's why I'm coming here)

    Hello,

It's possible that an instance of LibreOffice launches at startup and causes the observed message. You can check this in the task manager (right-click on the taskbar, task manager, startup tab, disable LibreOffice if it's there).

It may also be that your LibreOffice profile (which corresponds to the settings you selected) is faulty.

I suggest you uninstall LibreOffice using the free software Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode to remove any trace of the current installation. This will not delete your personal documents, which you could back up on a removable drive (flash drive or better yet USB disk).

Download and reinstall the latest version of LibreOffice corresponding to your version of Windows.

But I don't even know what an instance is ????

Does that mean someone has access to my data?

I don’t know what makes you think it’s a hacking. Instance simply means example. I meant to say that you might be opening the same software twice on your PC.

I understand that you don’t intend to carry out the proposed tests. That’s your right.

You are free to wait for other proposals, but you will have to at least test one. Consider my message null and void.

    Hello

When we talk about an instance in computing, it means in this case that a program is already running.

It has nothing to do with fraudulent access to your data.

There is no shame, not even a discomfort, in not knowing this term that is used by computer scientists to mean the installation of a program in a given version. There can be multiple instances of a program, if only because versions succeed one another and can be present simultaneously on the same computer (which is not recommended) or the same executable (program) launched voluntarily or not several times in the same session.

Moreover, even after 40 years of daily practice with computer tools, I still learn every day, especially thanks to those who know more than I do on CCM...

That said, nothing assures that my suggestions will solve your problem, but in computing, as in many fields, we proceed through trial and error. There are rarely push-button solutions.
