Hello,

I have some old Hi8 tapes that I would like to recover, and before that, watch. I managed to get my hands on an old camcorder (Sony CCD-FX280E PAL). It's in working condition and I can watch the videos through the small viewfinder of the camcorder, so far so good.

With the camcorder, there is an RCA cable (just black and yellow, no red, neither on the cable nor on the camcorder)

I bought an AV2HDMI adapter, I connected everything to the TV but it remains "no signal"

I already searched for answers online but nothing very conclusive and especially clear until now...

Can anyone help me understand what might be wrong??

Thanks in advance!!

Question c*n: is the adapter properly powered via a USB port?

Indeed, it’s silly but that was the problem! I didn’t know it needed to be powered; p

Thank you!

Good evening,

Are you sure that your TV only has one HDMI input? What is its full reference (see the information label on the back)?

Good evening,

There are indeed several HDMI ports but I am on the right channel, no worries on that front! I'm used to it :)

The TV is a Thomson 50UD6306

Hello, this "video 8" cassette camera dates back to 1994. You need to connect the yellow video plug and the black audio plug to a yellow video input and a white or red audio input on the TV.

I used to connect my first Sony cameras this way.

I’m wary of those cheap cords online that claim to convert everything but end up doing nothing!!!

Hello,

Thank you for your response

There are no longer those ports on my current TV, hence the adapter.

I have properly connected the HDMI cable from the TV to the adapter, then the camcorder to the adapter with the yellow in the yellow input and the black in the white input (then red, I tried both)

And no signal
