How to set default video import quality?

Hello,

Hello,

I've been stuck for several hours.

When I import my YouTube videos, they default to 360p quality. This immediately creates a blurred effect that doesn't look professional and discourages viewers (feedback from other users after watching).

Yet, I download them in 1920x1440, 30 fps, and 16000 kbps, as recommended by other tutorial videos.

I think the setting comes from YouTube.

Is it possible to have a default setting on YouTube so that every video I upload is at least in 720p, preventing viewers from skipping or changing the video settings themselves?

Thanks for reading :)

Hello
The quality of import depends on the source and the information at the time of import.

The quality of playback will depend on what is available on YouTube AND the settings of the client who is viewing it. You cannot act at this level.
However, YT imports in several phases, especially for large videos. To simplify, when you upload a video, YT will first create a lower resolution version that is visible and accessible quickly. This means that just because it becomes "available" does not mean it is available in high resolution.
The conversion process of YT continues in the background and can take quite some time (in addition) depending on the resolution and size.
Therefore, it is only after a certain time that YT will "make available" the other resolutions.
Then, if everything goes well and IF the visitor has set their client to higher resolutions by default, they should have the video in the proper resolution.

I often encounter this with drone footage. At first, it’s not great, but after a certain time, the problem disappears (which is therefore not a problem).

Best regards
