Hello, I bought a Thomson TV 2 years ago, a 50UD6306. Netflix updated last week and since then I can't watch a movie on my TV; it starts and after a few minutes an error message appears. I contacted Netflix and Thomson; apparently the TV's software is obsolete. I can't find any article on the net about this. Can someone advise me?

Here is the TV manual https://www.mediacenter.tcl.eu/uploads/common/THOMSON_MS86-EUM1DU_FR.pdf

The factory reset is explained on the last page (14)

Maintenance has been handed over to TCL and Thomson seems to have dropped everything...

Thank you, I’ll try to call them on Monday. I’ve already called Thomson twice and Netflix three times. I managed to update the firmware of my TV but without success for Netflix. I shouldn’t be the only one, after all.

    Hi,

Here is the reply I received. I haven’t tested it yet.

I confirm receipt of your email regarding a malfunction with the Netflix app on your Thomson television.

I’m sorry that you find yourself in this situation with your Thomson device.

I inform you that for some time now, Netflix, in Europe, has changed its video format from “CE4” to “DO.”

This change has made your TV incompatible with Netflix.

Our R&D department is working on it to provide a solution.

I invite you to check the following settings:

To find the app suitable for your country, make sure of the following points:
    - the country selected on your TV is France.
    - the country selected in the settings of your Gmail account is France.
    - the IP address of the used internet connection is France.

Please find below the contact details of the repair center closest to your home:

    Cordon Consumer Services Tours Agency
1 Rue des Internautes 37210 Rochecorbon
    Tel: 07 65 61 88 73
    Email: ***@***

I remain at your disposal for any further information.

    Best regards,

    Paul, Customer Service

    Good evening,

    to get information...?? Why...?

Just go to the manufacturer's website, here Thomson, go to the Support or Assistance section, find the exact model/reference of your TV... and download the "Software" or "Firmware" file.

Read the explanations carefully... I think you need to put this file on an empty USB drive, plug it into the TV, and turn the TV on...

You may need to check the version numbers you currently have on your TV to reinstall newer versions.

Here is a summary of what is usually done.

Thanks, already done but it doesn’t work. my TV was named 50ud63*6 and on Thomson it’s 50ud6306. I was given a procedure to do but I blocked my TV and I can’t get back to the menu. my remote works. I have a red, blue, black screen and a counter displayed. Do you know what procedure to return to service mode or reset my TV? I unplugged it and plugged it back in several times and nothing????

In this case, proceed to reset your TV to factory settings, here is the procedure:

First, press the Menu button on your remote control.

Then choose the menu Setup (Configuration) > Reset shop (Factory reset).

Next, enter your password (if you have never changed it, the default password is 1234).

Your TV will restart at the end of the reset.

You will then know to invite a new channel search.

Choose the Tuner Mode Air if you are using an antenna / DVB-T module.

Select Scan and the channel search will start automatically.

Most importantly, wait for the message indicating that the operation is complete.

Then restart your TV to verify that the problem is resolved.

If the issue persists, your TV memory is probably faulty.

You switch it on and you turn it on with the remote; it always stays in standby, the only button is a hidden reset behind the LED under the TV

Indeed, Thomson has really dropped the ball; they’re not even able to mark the reset button behind the LED under the TV. I must not be the only one who bought this TV to use Netflix—there’s no dial or anything about this ????

    Hello,

It's still sad to see these big groups shutting down and forgetting everything else, including a good number of customers...

First, I advise you to acquire the manual, at this link

    https://manuall.fr/thomson-50ud6306-televiseur-lcd/

    and also https://www.libble.eu/thomson-50ud6306/c699327/#show_manual

Then you can look for TVs of the same kind, as an example...

And also perform tests, remote in hand, to see how it goes and "learn on the job"...

Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. They made me understand that my TV is obsolete even though it functions fine. No more updates… basically, according to Netflix, the manufacturer put a Netflix button on it without licensing authorization, so it’s a mess. Anyway, Netflix support is incredible and very competent; I need to get a Chromecast. But honestly, next TV will be from a bigger brand to avoid any after-sales issues.

        Good evening,

        We have to ask Netflix.

We cannot say anything, not knowing the exact model of this Thomson TV..

But the Netflix problem is well known and many TVs are affected

-- Your TV is probably being received by an Internet decoder from your Internet service provider... You can try requesting a correction or exchange to receive Netflix...? with no guarantee.

This TV should surely have an HDMI port where you can connect an Android TV box and view Netflix... without going into complications...

It’s true that manufacturers do whatever they want, through updates on the TVs... An existing feature at the time of buying the TV can also be removed later on, during an “update”... which is actually a removal... you shouldn’t believe anything else... that said, it might be possible to install a Netflix app in the SMART part of your TV... somewhere other than on Google Play... it’s a bit like Lego.

It also depends, if the Android used is a real Android...??
