HDMI to SCART converter

Hello,

I have just acquired a SCART to HDMI converter.

When connecting the VCR to the TV, I get a blue screen and there is sound but no image.

Thank you for your help.

    What are the references (Brand and model) of this SCART to HDMI converter?

    Is there a 720/1080 switch? If so, set it to 720.

    It's very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
    Especially when it isn’t there...

      For the photos, it's a no-go.. (forgot to validate?)

      But the brand name and model (usually shown on the converter) or a link to the online store is enough for me.

      This converter looks like this one
      HDMI Input / Scart Output --- If your goal was to record an HDMI source to the VCR; You would have needed to connect it to the Scart [decoder] behind the VCR; then in the VCR system menu choose DEC + AV (something like that)

      On the other hand this one is the opposite Scart Input/HDMI Output
      There you can (normally) Watch/View your VHS tapes on your TV (HDMI input of the TV)

        It seems obvious to me that Pachatelet wants to play an existing recording on his VCR and not record. If he is talking about a blue screen with his OK, it means he wants to play, and anyway, a television does not have an HDMI output.

        He did take a Scart to HDMI and the connection on the VCR is indeed connected to the Aux/For TV AV1 socket (see image in message #15).

        And yes, it also seems to me that this is what he is trying to do!

        @pachatelet StatusMember Maybe he will need to enable or disable the EasyLink (HDMI CEC) option on the TV
        - Settings > General Settings > EasyLink > EasyLink > On or Off
        then see if there is any change or not./ Also test HDMI input 1 and 2

    It is indeed a Scart to HDMI converter.

    But as Andy asked, is it properly powered via USB or another source, with the red light on?

    It's very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.

    Ok, light on...

    The converter is powered via USB... powered by a power block that is itself connected to an electrical outlet.

    Try it on a phone charger...

    Very hard to catch a black cat in a dark room.
    Especially when it's not there...

        So a cable with a "round plug" directly coming out of the "charger", no USB port on this power block.

        The Scart and HDMI plugs are well seated...

        Check, among other things, that the male Scart plugs (on the VCR side and the converter side) of the linking cable do not have any bent "pins".

        You are properly connected to the right Scart socket on the VCR..

        OK So far, no problem... there's no issue with the male SCART connectors; the socket used on the VCR is the right one.

        The decoder is not working (standard issue?), so that's where we need to focus our investigations.

        Where did you order this converter? If possible, please provide us with the link to the online store.

    It may be a question of HDMI standard, their TV is recent (2019), potentially 2.1, however, I would be surprised if the converter is 2.1... and if it is only 1.4, it's normal that it doesn't work.

        I emphasized this because I have already noticed that backward compatibility on the TV side was not always true.

        But I admit, you have a very likely lead, his Akai VCR (made in France!!!) isn't brand new and is possibly exclusively SECAM, while the converter being sold according to the labels in Germany, where only PAL existed.....

    I can't find, on Amazon, at this price, the same model.

    This one also has Tiancai written on it. And we're not talking about Secam... your VCR, on the other hand, is compatible with Pal Secam.

    Question: In the manual you received with the converter, do they mention the formats Pal- Secam - NTSC or others?

      So it should work since this converter is multi-standard.

      The VCR working on another television is not due to a bad programming of the VCR in playback (if there even is one).

      I have no more ideas regarding the issue except to say that the converter is probably faulty.

      I just looked at the TV data, I hadn't seen the picture above.

      In fact, the TV is the problem, it's a 139cm 4K....

      Its resolution is 3,840 x 2,160, it won't be able to display an image in 1080, and in my opinion, it's not even a 60 hertz. And that's why the sound comes through but not the image.

      Hello, after the 24th post, I would like to intervene. For me, as an old-timer, the conversion of an analog signal happens in two stages: the conversion to a compatible format for all players, which takes some time, such as in MPEG4 or MPEG2, and the actual playback.

      A conversion is a compression with a codec that does not happen in real-time.

      It's not the first time we've seen cheap converters on the web that don't work.

      But as I always leave some room for doubt, wouldn't the resolution of these tapes be 72x576, that is to say, 4:3? Is her TV capable of providing 4:3?
