Notepad or text document won't open Windows 11

Hello,

all my software is working normally except for the notepad on the desktop which won't open, the icon is greyed out, however Word works and my software opens normally.

I searched online without success.

Thank you for your help.

In the list of software and applications, click on Notepad, it's the same thing.

I think that the right-click on the desktop is a sort of shortcut.

If it works well in the list, then the right-click on the desktop is damaged...

If it doesn't work either, try with another account and a new session. If nothing still works, I think Windows is damaged.

If nothing still works, Fabul (good evening) is right in his post 6.

you are absolutely right in the applications I found notepad go to properties then security then allow and it works.

a big thank you it just takes one idea for it to work. All my files on the desktop are functional.

It is also possible to uninstall the Notepad application with Revo Uninstaller.

Reinstall the Windows Notepad application from the Microsoft Store.

I may have explained it poorly, it's not the right-click that is at fault, I have no problem on that side, my problem is that after right-clicking, then new, then text document, at this stage I have the text doc icon but it doesn't open, I get a message "check that you entered the correct name, then try again"

Not that one, the other one, the simplest in the world, it's the one on the desktop I can make a quick note, on the desktop right-click new text document.

You could reinstall it.

Otherwise, I don't know if a repair without data loss would be necessary, just in case:

To perform a repair without data loss or an upgrade, use the tool to download a Windows ISO file.

Windows 11 https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

Once the ISO file is downloaded, open it with 7-Zip and extract everything into a folder anywhere except directly on C:\

Click on the setup.exe in the extracted folder.
