Hello,

For the past few days, I haven't been able to open File Explorer on Windows 11. It opens but closes down after 2-3 seconds. As a result, I can't access my files.

A Windows recovery initially fixed the problem, but it happened again once I reinstalled programs that I have been using for a long time.

I don't know what to do anymore, so if you have a solution, thank you very much in advance!!

Hello

Press CTRL+SHIFT+Esc to open the task manager.

Then run a new task, type "explorer.exe" and launch it.

The Windows Explorer should restart: does it close afterwards?

If it works, you said this: but it started again as soon as I reinstalled programs that I had been using for a long time.

Uninstall them.

Then reinstall them one by one, to see which program is guilty.

Can you also list the programs mentioned?

Hello,

@little boy62

Then execute a new task, type "explorer.exe" and run it.

I believe this procedure no longer works on W11 (22h2)

(I tested).

This opens a Windows Explorer window, but does not restart it.

Here is the new procedure:

Open the Task Manager (right-click on the Start button)

Click on --► Run a new task

Type --►explorer.exe

This opens an Explorer window.

Close the Explorer window.

This will cause the line for Windows Explorer to appear in the process list.

In the process list, click on --► Windows Explorer

Then in the Task Manager menu, click on --► Restart the task

The screen will briefly go black (or to the color of the custom Windows theme).

The Explorer is finally restarted.

Count for you ;)

@pistouri StatutContributeur

You say this "procedure" no longer works.

 Then execute a new task, type "explorer.exe", and launch it.

You propose this one:

 Click on --► Run a new task Type --►explorer.exe

Clear this up for me: it's the same procedure, right?

Because this single procedure does start the Windows Explorer for me, with access to the desktop.

++ and good evening to all
