WhatsApp has disappeared from my PC!?

Hello,
My WhatsApp seems to have completely disappeared from my desktop.
I reinstalled it by scanning from https://web.whatsapp.com/
but it doesn’t open when I click on "Update.exe"!!
In my WhatsApp folder, in addition to the "Update.exe" file, I have a .dead file (?) and a SquirrelSetup.log (?)
Maybe I installed it incorrectly?
However, WhatsApp still works on my Android phone....
Any ideas? Thanks.

a hello, a response, a thank you are always appreciated.
Thank you BazFile,
But before reinstalling it, how do I uninstall the items located in:
C > Users > name > AppData > Local > WhatsApp >....
there is a file: .dad / a text document: SquirrelSetup.log
and the application: Update.exe
Should I delete them manually? because WhatsApp is not in "Programs and Features" ...
Thank you.

Hello,
I reinstalled WhatsApp and paired it with the Q code.
WhatsApp loaded my messages,
I closed it and... no shortcuts... disappeared again, it's not in
the folder I told you about, there are still the same files without applic.exe!!!
I can't see it anywhere... Strange!!??

When I click on the icon in the taskbar, I don't have access to the properties,
I have a second icon that opens + "detach from the taskbar", I clicked on "detach..." thinking it would put the shortcut on the desktop but nothing!!!
I went to the "Local" folder in What to create a desktop shortcut, and there are still only the same files, no .exe application other than the Update.exe which opens nothing!....
So back to square one, RRRRRRR!!!....
There is really something wrong!!!....
Sorry to disturb you!

Hello,
If it is located in the app menu, there is no problem since we can drag the icon to the desktop to create a shortcut.
Otherwise, the "new" version of the Whatsapp application is a standalone Windows application, which means it is located at C:\Program Files\WindowsApps, and this folder has such a level of security that it is inaccessible to most common operations including viewing.
Regarding the permissions to acquire for this folder as needed:
https://geekflare.com/fr/windowsapps-folder-access/
The new version of WhatsApp Desktop is, like any respectable Microsoft Store application, stored not under the user profile but at something like
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\5319275A.WhatsAppDesktop_2.2134.10.0_x64__cv1g1gvanyjgm\app\WhatsApp.exe
from which we need to create, if not found, a shortcut in the user profile targeting:
C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\WhatsApp\WhatsApp.lnk or send a shortcut to the desktop.
In the event that the folder name is random, we can, if we do not lift the restrictions on the WindowsApps folder, access its updated name via task manager, processes, WhatsApp properties, and copy the target.
This might (perhaps) be a reason why you have these files under your user profile where Hertz does not find them.
Thanks a lot bazefile,
I was able to create the desktop shortcut from the start menu.
However, WhatsApp does not appear in "Programs and Features."
If I understood correctly, the application.exe is located in WindowApps and not elsewhere!...
Did you access the WhatsApp folder via the command line or by going directly into the folder?
Thanks again.
