Page numbering - following the previous section

Hello,
Hello,
I have a problem with my Word document. I have several header and footer sections in my document, and I am struggling to paginate the entire document correctly.
So I click on "page numbering" then "continue from the previous section." The page numbers then follow one another and do not revert to page 1 with each new section, meaning p. 1-38 instead of 1,2,3,4,5 then 0,1,2,3-30 and again 1,2.
However, each time I save my document and close it, when I reopen it, the pages still do not follow correctly; this specific setting does not save. I still have 1,2,3,4,5 then 0,1,2,3-30 and again 1,2.
I tried clicking on "Page Layout" then "Custom Margins" and "Page Breaks" choosing "continuous," but as soon as I close and reopen my document, the problem reappears.
Do you have any advice?????

Hello.
I have never encountered this phenomenon...
But I think I understand that you are using Word, but with a Mac. That might be the source of the problem!
A small clarification: does your document possibly contain inserted texts, or even linked texts?
