Hello, I would like to upgrade my Dell Optiplex 9020 MT by adding a graphics card. However, I want to keep the original 290W 80+ Bronze power supply. In your opinion, would a small AMD Radeon RX 6400 be compatible with this power supply?

Current specs of the PC:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790

GPU: Intel integrated hd graphics 4600

RAM: 32GB DDR3 1600MHz

SSD: 512GB

Motherboard: Original Dell Optiplex 9020 MT

Power Supply: Original Dell Optiplex 9020 MT, 290W rated 80+ Bronze

Thank you again for helping me determine if the RX 6400 is compatible or other equivalents.

    No, it will be fine, under full load your setup shouldn't exceed 200W

        I got the Zotac GTX 1650 single fan, that way I'm sure it'll fit in my case.

        Excellent choice! It's one of the few GTX 1650 in GDDR6 that doesn't require an additional power connector.

    Hello,

    The rx6400 does not connect to the power supply, it does not require any cables, it is powered through the PCI-E x16 port on the motherboard.

      Perfect! But do you think the motherboard and the power supply are strong enough for the graphics card? Because I think it consumes around 50W or something like that.

        Hello

        Yes, a graphics card that does not have a supplemental power connector consumes less than 75W, and motherboards are able to power it through the PCIEx16 slot.

    Hello, I highly recommend that you install a GTX 1650 instead, which is PCIe 3.0. The RX 6400 is PCIe 4.0, and if you connect it to your motherboard which is PCIe 3.0, it won't be fully utilized, and you will lose performance.

    Your 290W power supply will be sufficient.

    PS: Be careful about the model of the 1650 you choose, some require an additional power connector that you don't have in your PC.

      The power supply won't be too overloaded with 2 hard drives, an Intel Core i7 4790, and 4 RAM sticks?
