Hard drive SSD ???! A drive is not an SSD; we use the word drive for the sake of understanding because we've always referred to computer storage as a drive, and we've retained that name, just like with the BIOS, which is now UEFI.

To respond: we need to dissect the terms to see what we're dealing with; otherwise, it could be a tampered memory controller.

    Hello

You will also find it on Cdiscount for cheaper, but read the reviews and you'll understand why it's cheap.....
Technically, these are not SSDs but mega USB drives because they use flash memory (very low quality as well), so it's misleading to call them SSDs.

    Hello,

There is not necessarily an error... The Chinese are doing wonders with technology and are improving every day... It is these products that Amazon and Cdiscount sell

For example, here is a 4TB for 17.22 euros, let's say Amazon makes a 30€ profit on it, let's not be naive...!!!

I still recommend that you read buyer reviews on this site
    https://www.amazon.fr/External-Drive-Ultra-Type-C-Portable/dp/B09W4VBQW6

They mainly complain about the transfer speed... It is supposedly that of USB-3 but what is this speed on the PC used, we have no idea... Are the USB-3 drivers good and installed? It would also be necessary to compare with an HDD just to see

It is stated for a transfer speed of -Speed: 540Mb/s... so we shouldn't be too surprised, it is not super fast, about 3 times faster than a mechanical disk (that's the secret) but it is probably limited by USB3, which is often presumptuous about its performance...!!

    Here is my perspective ..

Hello, I don't understand your reaction. These are fakes. If Amazon is selling 4TB external SSDs for €400, they are making a profit of €380? It's time to come back to reality. A quick Photoshop job to put the Xiaomi logo on the first image and there you go! It's sold!!!

I searched for a "French" disk but couldn’t find it... not even in 20MB

here is one for €1000 with 4TB advertised for 2500 MB per second... if the PC can keep up, it’s not supposed to be fake.
    https://www.amazon.fr/Sabrent-Externe-Rocket-Thunderbolt-SB-XTRM-4TB/dp/B07ZV1SZFV/ref=sr_1_3?c=ts&keywords=SSD+externes&qid=1656257971&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A10857264031&s=computers&sr=1-3&ts_id=430415031

To compare, you need to compare comparable equipment with also comparable (identical) performance; the price difference isn’t just a margin, if the hardware is different, you also have to pay for the technology. Tampering with logos falls into a different category of wrongdoing, there is deception...

Suppliers with a trustworthy name commit to refunding or exchanging the equipment in case of failure
    So the risk is measured...

Anyway, my goal here was to answer the question from our common reader, which I did honestly.

    Hello
    My point of view:
The first one mentioned, UPERFECT External SSD USB 3.0- 2 TB M.2, is an empty box to put an M.2 SSD in.

For the others, provide the link, we will tell you.

      Hello,

I bought a Canvio Basics 2TB for around €50, either from Cdiscount or Amazon, I don't remember. It's "basic" but still from a brand (Toshiba).

It's USB 3, in any case, with a much greater transfer speed than an old 500GB USB 2 that I still have. And it's not an SSD, but a classic 2.5-inch hard drive.

Anyway, nothing much to say except that I would avoid buying "No Name".
