Connect headphones to LG TV

Hello
I want to connect headphones to my LG 43 LF 5400 television. Since this TV doesn't have a Jack input, I connected a Y-cable with a red RCA plug and a white RCA plug.
I have no sound, and I can't find the sound settings function in the TV menu to activate it.
Therefore, I think it's impossible on this television.
Thank you for any responses.

Hello

Is this what you are using?

Is it really an output (red/white RCA) or could it be an input?

What other ports does your TV have (optical? SCART? HDMI?)

Hello Michel, and welcome to this forum,

It's really stupid but your TV has no audio output, those RCA jacks you plugged into are inputs and not outputs, I'm really sorry...

Yes, that's right, I use
I don't have an optical output, though I have 1 component and 2 HDMI.

Hello,
As Andy31200 pointed out, there is no audio output on this television...
But who provides the image to the television?
Only an antenna or an external device connected via HDMI (TV box - decoder)?
If it's an external device, what are the references (Brand and model) of that device?
Please also provide the references of the headset so we can find the most suitable solution for your equipment.

It is very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it isn't there...

Hello,
This is a Thomson WHP 3001 BK headset.

Thank you for your responses.
Have a good day.

Okay... for the headset.
But who provides the image?
No external device?

There is a rooftop aerial, so there are no issues with TNT (image and sound)
No external device

In fact, it's my mother-in-law's TV who is 92 years old, so she needs something simple, definitely not a box
I think I'm going to recommend that she change her television

OK, nothing more than a rabbit ear antenna.
Without changing the television:
the solution lies in acquiring an external TNT decoder with a digital audio output S/PDIF and a digital to analog converter (DAC).
Or if the decoder has a SCART output, use a SCART to RCA adapter.
Note: the blue links to online stores are examples of possible equipment.

If changing the television...
Caution:
- Some televisions have no audio output (this is the case for the LG 43LF5400).
- Not all televisions necessarily have an analog audio output on a 3.5mm jack (headphone output).
- Generally, using the headphone output disables the television's speakers.
- If there is no headphone output, you will also need a digital to analog converter (DAC) of the same type as mentioned earlier, and a setting change will need to be made in the TV menu to activate the audio output (optical or coaxial (S/PDIF)).

"I think I'm going to advise him to change his television"
That's the best option, but make sure it has a headphone output

Hi Andy
It's probably the simplest solution, but the issue of the TV's speakers cutting out when the headphone jack is used still remains.
Few brands still offer the choice.

A big thank you to all of you for all these clarifications.

The easiest solution for her would therefore be to buy a television equipped with an optical output via a converter
Or a television equipped with a Jack input, but in this case, the TV's speakers will be disabled and that is very annoying.

If the TV's speaker cut-off is unacceptable...
Then yes, a TV with an optical (or coaxial) output is required.
Not to forget the converter, of course.
