NVIDIA graphics card not recognized after installing Windows 10

Hello,

I installed W10 on an ACER laptop that was previously running W7, with an Nvidia Geforce graphics card.

Everything seems to be working fine except that I can no longer find the graphics card in the device list. I have a "Microsoft basic adapter" with the corresponding driver. The issue is that the resolution is at best 1024 x 768, and I can't set it to 1920x1080 like before.

I downloaded the Nvidia driver from their website; after installation, it appears in the list but as a hidden setting because the "corresponding hardware was not found."

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance.

(and yes, my PC is perfectly compatible with W10!).

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 99.0.4844.51

    The basic Microsoft card corresponds to an Intel HD Graphics
    Try this driver --> Intel
    Unzip it
    Install it manually.

    Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bits

    Right-click on the driver --> win7vista_64_152258.exe
    Select --> 7Zip
    Choose --> extract to "win7vista_64_152258\"

    Go to Device Manager
    Right-click on the basic Microsoft card
    Update driver
    Browse my computer for drivers
    Browse
    Go to the unzipped driver folder --> win7vista_64_152258
    Select the folder --> Graphics
    OK, next
    Restart.

    Hello
    You should try to install the driver from the official Acer website (support for your machine), even if it is not intended for Windows 10!!
    Have you checked if Windows 8 x64 or Windows 10 x64 is not offered by Acer?
    See you later

    Hello,

    What graphics cards do you have?

    Give me the hardware identification number of the basic Microsoft card
    Check this --> Find the identification number of a device
    Post the number in your next message.

    Thank you for your responses.

    I will start with the easiest one:
    the identification number of the basic Microsoft video card is:
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_06111025&REV_02
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_06111025
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&CC_0300

    I will process the other responses and will get back to you as soon as I have something new...

    Hello
    It's not that complicated to search on the Acer website and download, do you not know how? And you're diving into the tech...
    At least give us the model of your Acer!!
    A+

    I didn't write that it was complicated to search for the Acer site, just that it was easier to provide a device number.
    I performed both manipulations and I can confirm that I was right.
    The Acer site first fails to recognize my serial number or the SNID. Once my laptop is identified (Aspire 7739G), it obligingly lists the components, which only include the Microsoft Basic graphics card. No mention of NVIDIA or any possible updates. I would like to point out that the NVIDIA Geforce label has been on my laptop since it was purchased (new) and that before the W10 manipulation, the resolution was indeed 1920 x 1080.
    The site proposes manipulating the NVIDIA control panel but it is nowhere to be found. Probably removed by W10.

    I found a list of Acer computers tested under W10 for which the drivers have been updated. Mine is not on it. That's probably the simple explanation....

    Thank you.

      Hello. It is imperative to check for the availability of drivers for all PC hardware under the new OS before switching operating systems.

    I tried your link. Nothing better. At one point, the chat offered me assistance, I said okay, the guy took control of my PC and worked for over 2 hours. I can testify, I saw him trying dozens of things! In the end, he told me he couldn't do anything and that I needed to go back to W7...
    Since I gave my credit card to purchase the driver (€9.99...), I'm a bit worried about what will happen with the support... :-(
    I'm going to stop here. There’s no solution. Thank you for your help.
    Have a good evening.

    Alright, but the question that was offering me help didn't explain at all what it was about, and I fell for it like a fool.
    That said, I'm in the process of rebuilding a complete W7, the risks are limited...

      Hello
      Unless you have personal data in it :-(
      If you then upgrade to Windows 8.1, you would have a more up-to-date machine, W7 is no longer supported at all!!
      See you!

    I had backed up all personal data and chose the W10 install that erases everything...

    If I choose to install W8.1, in your opinion, is there any risk of incompatibility such as with my card?

      Hello
      Take the time to check the manufacturer's support site.
      You can do -> Windows 7 with the right drivers installed, then upgrade to Windows 8.1.
      It is impossible to know if the Windows 7 driver installer works directly on Windows 8.1.

    Ah damn! I've already upgraded to W7... which is actually causing me other problems... I'll keep this idea in mind, you never know! Thank you.

    For your information: I reinstalled Windows 10 to try Kaneagle's suggestion. And now, no one will believe me, but the Intel graphics driver was found during the installation. The basic Microsoft driver is also in the device list but is not being used. As a result, I have my proper resolution, without any special manipulation.
    I'm happy, but I'm wondering: what causes the Windows installation to behave differently between several attempts?
    Thanks to everyone and have a good evening.
