Hello*
To type the character œ (a connected oe) on a desktop computer keyboard, you hold down the Alt key and type 0156 on the numeric keypad. Can someone help me with how to do this on a laptop keyboard without a numeric keypad? A thousand thanks in advance.

Hello,
Yes, since we are in Word, and as Brucine said, Word automatically corrects all words once the word is entered (after the space, the punctuation, the paragraph return, etc.).
In case it doesn't do it:
File tab, Options, Proofing
AutoCorrect Options button
First tab, check "Correct spelling as you type"
You might also check if the word in question is there. We can add others.
