Torrent without VPN

Hello,
I was in the process of downloading a movie via torrent when I noticed that my VPN had disconnected. I was downloading with uTorrent from YIFY. I have an antivirus (Norton). Apart from copyright issues, what else am I at risk of regarding hacking?

    PS: the VPN is a complication, not a protection. We can always find you if we look.
