When the green dot appears next to a friend's photo on Messenger, does it mean they are in a conversation or not necessarily? Thank you for your response.

    Good evening.

    The green dot on a friend's photo simply means that the contact is online (their messenger or Facebook is open or active), without actually being in a conversation.
