PC applications that open by themselves

Hello,
I left my computer on all night only with Word, and in the morning I find the task manager, file explorer, settings, and the HUB software (comments section) open even though the PC didn't restart (Word was still there).
I ran antivirus software (Defender, Adwcleaner, and ZHPcleaner) with no results.
In the meantime, I formatted my PC, but I would like to know if I had a virus or not, and what type. Knowing that I didn't notice anything unusual on my PC, it wasn't slow or noisy.
Thank you.

See my response above regarding the presence of a virus.

Regarding the analyses you conducted, automated tools do not detect everything (far from it), so you should have asked for help BEFORE formatting.

Did you format (remove partitions) or did you reset through the Windows settings?

OK, so there is no more trace of a virus.

If you chose to delete everything by cleaning the drive, it's equivalent to formatting it.

If the phenomenon occurs again, come back to the subject and we will look into it more deeply.

To come here and do a FRST analysis (see other topics in the virus section) and me or another security contributor would have studied your reports to see if your PC is indeed infected.

For most infections, automated tools are sufficient, but for some, only the human eye can detect them; just look at the number of topics where people ask for help after having run all the tools they could find online.

I don't think he had an infection, I think it's more of an update.

But as I said, if the phenomenon happens again, come back to the subject and we'll look into it more deeply.

Hello,

The computer may have restarted just fine, even if Word is still there.

So, do you think the PC restarted and Word opened? Because I found my document unchanged (the text was the same when I fell asleep) and I didn't receive any Word file recovery message.
And if the PC did restart, is it normal for so many programs to open?
Thank you.

Hello,

I formatted my PC in the meantime but I would like to know if I had a virus or not and what type it was

Well, since we don't have a crystal ball, I don't see how we can tell what type of virus you had (if present), and since you formatted (unnecessarily) your PC, we can know even less

I did this mostly in a hurry! I have already done analyses without finding anything, but once again, in a rush, I formatted it. I just want to know if this kind of situation is related to a virus?

Okay, how can I know if I still have a virus?

I reset Windows (I went through the Windows settings): I chose the option to remove all files (clean the drive) and I reinstalled Windows locally.

Sure, do you have software you can recommend to prevent this from happening again? In short, if I hadn't formatted it, what would you have advised me to do?
Thank you.

Thank you, I have one last question and then I'll leave you alone.
In your opinion, do you think my PC just did an update and rebooted, or based on what I described, do you think there was an infection?
I'm not asking for a sure answer since in the end we'll never know, just your opinion.
Thank you.

Thank you very much,
I assure you that it reassures!
Alright, next time (let's hope not), I'll come directly here!
Thanks again!

Good evening to you,
I had a few issues that you can explain to me:
I reinstalled Malwarebytes, and when I clicked on the icon at the end of the installation, nothing happened. I uninstalled it, but the uninstallation got stuck at 42%, so I forced the stop and restarted.
Then, I saw that the application was uninstalled, so I reinstalled it and it worked. I then ran the first scan and it found nothing. I thought it should do a deep scan just in case, so I chose the "advanced scan" option and checked everything.
While CCleaner was updating the drivers and I was watching a video on VLC, all of a sudden, I got a blue screen mbam.exe crashed.
I don’t understand why this happens during the advanced scan but not during the normal scan. I also realized that I had another antivirus (free) which was conflicting with Malwarebytes, according to Windows Defender. So, I removed it and ran Malwarebytes' advanced scan again to see if it does the same thing.
So, is this normal and what can I do?
Thank you.

Hi,
remove CCleaner which is useless on recent versions of Windows and can even spread malware. Uh, I don't see the connection between drivers and CCleaner though.

sources:
https://www.ginjfo.com/actualites/logiciels/windows-10/windows-10-attention-a-ccleaner-impact-negatif-sur-les-performances-et-la-stabilite-20151228
https://www.houkconsulting.com/2019/06/unnecessary-windows-programs/

Same goes for the antivirus (Avast?) since there is Windows Defender that does the job (and is updated), it is essential to delete programs that at best will be redundant and therefore waste resources unnecessarily and may hinder the proper functioning of one or both.

"because formatting and reinstalling your software, you will have the same issues if it's a software or something else that has compromised your configuration."
Maybe that's the problem: CCleaner.
So if we format (which can be useful especially more than 10 years ago) to reinstall the program that is causing the problems again, that is pointless.
Therefore, before reinstalling third-party software (other than those provided by Windows), it is better to check both the source and the usefulness and validity of the software we are reinstalling (or files from an external device: CD-ROM/USB key).

I uninstalled the antivirus and the scan went very well, it lasted 6h30 after all! Malwarebyte found nothing, so I think the blue screen is the result of a conflict between the 2 antiviruses.
As for CCleaner, I've always had this software and I've never had any problems, it's true that it slows down the machine a bit but I don't see how it could be the problem.
So do you have another similar software to recommend to me (that cleans the computer, in short)?
Thank you!

Hello everyone,
it happened to me again! So I left my PC on all night with Malwarebytes and here's what happened:
the settings on personalization were open,
Winrar was open at least 3 times on my desktop and on Picture... and there were 2 Winrar icons
Can someone explain to me what is going on? This has never happened to me!
Thank you!

I forgot that the software "Calibre" (for ebooks) was also open.

RE_

We will do a FRST analysis, we will see if anything comes up.

Read the entire procedure before posting the reports
Do not post them directly in the messages as they are unreadable and incomplete

The reports FRST.txt and Addition.txt are expected

All reports must be hosted on https://security-x.fr/up/ and you must include the obtained links in your response

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--> The SmartScreen filter may trigger an alert. Click on Actions or More information and then on Run anyway

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--> Download the FRST version of Farbar, compatible with your system and save the file to your Desktop

--> For a 32-bit system
--> For a 64-bit system

How to know which 32-bit or 64-bit version is running on my system?

--> Wait until your browser offers you the download to save, without clicking anywhere, especially not on the page sponsors.
--> Close all applications, including your browser
--> Double-click on FRST.exe and click Yes to accept the Disclaimer
--> Under Vista, Windows 7 / 8 and 10, you need to launch the file by right-clicking -> Run as administrator
--> Wait for it to say The tool is ready to operate
--> In the main menu, click on Scan and wait for the scan to complete
--> At the end of the scan, the reports FRST.txt and Addition.txt are created. Post these reports in your next response.
--> The reports are saved in the same location as the tool and under C:\FRST\Logs

Malwarebytes is anti-malware, it is not an antivirus. Analyze your setup with the Windows 10 antivirus: Windows Defender. And give us the results.

I clearly wrote antivirus from Windows 10 called Windows Defender.

And when I write: So your PC has no problems, if Malwarebytes found nothing, I did not write antivirus, implying you analyzed it with Windows Defender, you found nothing, otherwise you would have written it, and since Malwarebytes on its side found nothing either, so your PC has no problems. Do you understand?
Don't try to muddy the waters by picking apart sentences.

As for my experience in IT, I have been doing maintenance since Windows 95.
You are free to believe it or not. But look through some of my other answers on this help forum and maybe you will change your mind. We do not judge someone based on three written sentences.
After reviewing the forum, give a real opinion if you think it's necessary.

Did you know Jean Claude Bellamy? An engineer at EDF, who used to help on Microsoft forums back in the day?
He has passed away; he was a genius in computing.

In any case, congratulations on your research, trying to undermine me.
But you have brought down no one.

'Evening

Hi Baz, Hi Mistery.

After browsing the forum, give a real opinion, if you think it's necessary.

Meh..., it's a bit like bar tables, it's wobbly.

In my defense, I observe, I don't judge

Have a good evening
