Hello,
My father, who has Alzheimer's, has completely dismantled his HP Pavilion 500-555nf PC and I don't know how to reconnect all the cables to the motherboard. During this Covid period, his PC was the only way to communicate with him...
The motherboard is silkscreened IPM87-MP and it is a Menphis2-S.
HP support does not mention the wiring of the connectors on the motherboard.
Does anyone have an idea?

Hi
This motherboard model is standard, all the cables have notches, and there are many tutorials online, including on YouTube.
For example:
https://www.materiel.net/guide-achat/g1-guide-de-montage-pc/11/
https://openclassrooms.com/fr/courses/911038-apprenez-a-monter-votre-ordinateur/910916-le-branchement-des-cables
https://www.topachat.com/comprendre/monter-son-pc/carte-mere.php
By reading and thoroughly watching each of them, you'll eventually figure it out.
Otherwise, for the cables that might give you trouble, post a photo in this discussion.

Good evening,
I don't know where to plug in the connector that comes from the USB ports on the front as well as a black wire that comes from some kind of switch under the front DVD drive...

Hello,
I was able to reconnect all the connections on the motherboard and everything is fine, except for the hard drive which I had to change. This brings about a new problem: it's impossible to install Windows 8.1 because I don't have a serial number printed on the central unit and I can't find the backup CDs. For now, I have installed Linux Ubuntu.

OK, in case you can't find the license number, you can get one for a ridiculously low price on certain sales websites.

There's also a version for W10, but if your father is used to W8, it's best to avoid the change.
